David’s Tomb Status Quo Breached by Catholic Mass Services

Video footage, courtesy of Rabbi Tal, exposes the Mass prayers held on the second floor of the David’s Tomb Compound, which Christians term the “Room of the Last Supper.” The rabbi reports hundreds of Christian visitors, priests, Catholic monks and nuns praying at the site, as evidenced by the film. In another video clip filmed slightly later, police stop Rabbi Tal from entering the second floor of the Compound while the Mass prayers are in session.

The police are seen refusing Rabbi Tal’s requests for an explanation as to why he is being forbidden from entering as he has done for many years on Sundays. In the clip, Christian visitors are seen entering and exiting freely, even as Jews are forbidden access. …

Been there...the ground floor is called “David’s Tomb” but the signs say that David is NOT BURIED there and I think the sign also says something like they don’t know if David was ever there......the second floor is the place of the “Last Supper” and the third floor is said to be the site of the Pentecost.

Been there too. They also say after the 70 AD riots not two stones were left on top of one another.

For the ultra-Orthodox, Christianity is pagan (the worship of a man), and hence idolatry. And idolatry should not be permitted anywhere in the Land of Israel, let alone at King David’s tomb.

For the vast majority of Israelis, who are largely secular, this isn’t an issue.

(footnote: Jews who followed a false messiah in the past—Bar Kochba, Shabbtai Zvi, etc.—were never considered to have become non-Jews or pagans; they were only Jews who were in error about the messiah. Even Jews who worshiped Baal in the days of Elijah were not considered to have become non-Jews, only erroneous.
Following that pattern, Jews who do not consider that Jesus was the messiah would consider those who do as being merely erroneous, not pagan and non-Jews. But that’s MOO...)
