Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling has pulled his support from a deal to sell the team to former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer and will pursue his $1 billion federal lawsuit against the NBA, his attorney said Monday.

"We have been instructed to prosecute the lawsuit," said attorney Maxwell Blecher. He said co-owner Donald Sterling would not be signing off on the deal to sell.

Go on, take the money and run.

I'll follow your advice when you are in a position to turn down a 2 billion dollar offer.

It’s not about the money. It’s about the fight.

This guy has more money than he could spend. And he is a notorious litigator. This will end up costing everyone, but him.

Because he doesn’t care.

” I can’t believe the prospect of a multi-year lawsuit is all that exciting to a man in his 80’s reputed to be in failing health due to cancer.”

I can! I just imagine he’s gaining personal strength doing what he’s doing. He doesn’t need the money and he won’t live to spend it, so why not Eff with all of the players and make some lawyers on both sides richer? Actually, in a perverse way, I like what he’s doing. While I thought what he said was reprehensible, I would defend his right to say what he said, particularly in view of the fact that it was a supposed private conversation.

I thought he was not in control of the team? He can say whatever he wants, but if he’s relinquished control, he doesn’t much of say in the matter.

what an idiot.

he is being advised by people who only want the lawyer fees. He is being taken, and should have walked away with the 2 billion.

Where? He’s already got enough money to do whatever he wants anyway.

The guy is what, a hundred yeers old? Can’t take it with you, and he might not care much for his progeny. Already has Billions. Taking the NBA to court for a 1% chance of winning - priceless!

For the record, I don’t know a damn thing about this guy, other than what I’ve read. He could be the victim of an elaborate con. Who knows?

If he wants to stick it to the man; the powers that be, on his way out, he has every right.

Who’s got popcorn? I like REAL butter in mine. :-)

I also hope he gets it. He is a genuine jerk. But he hired blacks and paid them an enormous amount of money. He did not discriminate. A private conversation should not be used to make him sell his property. The race baiters can do this to anyone if they get away with this. Same with the gay mafia. Enough of this crap.

here was his options:

#1 take 2 billion and walk away.

#2 spend 1 billion on lawyers fees only to eventually lose, and in the meantime be forced to sell the team for 1 billion. So when all the dust clears he will get zero.

which do you think is the better deal?
