Cochran Says He Doesn't Know Much About Tea Party – For Third Time!

It's becoming a signature line for Sen. Thad Cochran's (R-MS).

“Was it Will Rogers who said all he knows is what he reads in the paper?” Cochran told Washington Post reporter Robert Costa. “Well, all I hear about the tea party is what I’ve read in the paper.”

This is now the third time this year Cochran has said he doesn’t know much about the Tea Party, a five-year-old political movement that swept Republicans into control of the House in 2010 and has dramatically altered the character of the GOP.

When asked about the Tea Party in February, Cochran told local television station WAPT “That is something I don’t know a lot about.”

When asked about it again in March, Cochran reiterated the sentiment to local television station WXXV—and added the “Will Rogers” line he used with Costa. “I said I didn’t know much about the Tea Party, and I didn’t,” Cochran said in March. “I heard...I read newspaper articles about them, and that’s about all I knew. It’s kind of like Will Rogers, you know. He said he knew what was in the papers.”

Will Rogers--the icon Cochran cited--was one of the world’s most famous movie stars in the 1920s and 1930s. At the beginning of his career in the 1910s, he was a vaudeville stage comedian. “Well, what shall I talk about? I ain't got anything funny to say. All I know is what I read in the papers,” Rogers would say when he took the stage, before making jokes about the news of the day roughly 100 years ago. Rogers died in 1935, two years before Cochran was born in 1937.

When he shows up for work next January 3rd, and somebody tells him he doesn't work here anymore, THEN he'll know a lot more about the Tea Party!

In the DC bubble, being tied to the Tea Party means you are “NUTZ!!”, “CRAZY!!”, RACIST!!”, and even worse, you might be a “CHRISTIAN!!!”.

These are all horrible things to be related to, in today’s gay-run media-centric society.

Did his handler have her hand on his back when he stammered this statement?

I think it was Obama who says that.

Well, the Tea Party sure knows all about this senile puppet of the GOP RINO establishment and the moneyed DC lobbyists for all the special interests.

can’t we just be .... Republicans and Democrats — no change that to

can’t we just be Republicans. Well, that’s what I am - a Republican!

I will work for the one I want to represent me in DC but will also VOTE for the Republican who wins the Primary.

We will continue to fail if we continue to fight ourselves.

“...We will continue to fail if we continue to fight ourselves.”
********************************************************************

You might want to direct that to the GOPe-— John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, the NRC, NRSC, etc. Those are the individuals and organizations who have decided to make war on constitutional conservatives & Tea Party members. It was John Boehner who decided to purge conservatives from House committee leadership roles—those same conservatives who provided the numbers to allow Boehner to become Speaker and Cantor to become Leader.

Same old tired GOP-E "Lesser of two evils" failed strategy that we hear every election cycle.

We've been doing that for every election cycle since Reagan and each and every election cycle the GOP-E keeps pushing the party further to the left.

What's the definition of insanity again?? Doing the same thing over and over and over again and expecting different results.

These GOP-E types have to be removed, period. They are crony capitalists bought and sold to their big Corporate Campaign Donors and don't give a damn about the Citizens of the US whom they are supposed to represent.

If this is too much of a fight for you, please sit on the side-lines and rest while we do the heavy-lifting of doing whatever is necessary to get rid of these Democrat Collaborators.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams
