Reaction from policy makers, lawmakers, and education activists to a Los Angeles judge's ruling Tuesday that five California laws governing teacher tenure, layoffs and dismissals are unconstitutional because they infringe on the right of all students to a quality public education:
"It's surprising that the court, which used its bully pulpit when it came to criticizing teacher protections, did not spend one second discussing funding inequities, school segregation, high poverty or any other out-of-school or in-school factors that are proven to affect student achievement and our children." — American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten.
"Let's be clear: This lawsuit was never about helping students, but is yet another attempt by millionaires and corporate special interests to undermine the teaching profession and push their own ideological agenda on public schools and students while working to privatize public education." — National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel.

Just out of curiosity, what is the annual salary for American Federation of Teachers President Randi Weingarten and National Education Association President Dennis Van Roekel?

Women and men. Get rid of the “ old school” teachers who know the importance of teaching good solid math and English skills not CONCEPTS. GREAT teachers are the biggest threat to the Globalists that are driving this COMMON CORE Dumbed Down system.

Background
Van Roekel was born in Le Mars, Iowa. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Iowa in Iowa City and a master’s degree in math education from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He taught math for more than 20 years at Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, Arizona. He has held key positions in all levels of the teachers union, including Paradise Valley Education Association President, Arizona Education Association President, and served two terms as NEA Secretary-Treasurer, and NEA Vice President. He was elected NEA President by the 2008 NEA Representative Assembly, succeeding Reg Weaver in that position.
Presidency
As NEA President, Van Roekel has been a vocal supporter of the broader union movement. He gave a speech calling for unity at a meeting in January 2009 with the leaders of the AFL-CIO and the breakaway Change to Win; The New York Times called his attendance at that meeting “somewhat surprising” since the NEA has been more independent in the past. He has been outspoken about the neediest schools in the country, and has testified before Congress that union staffing rules would not stand in the way of putting the best teachers in high-needs schools.

The teachers union has a real problem when the students are suing to get a better education.
That’s why NYC is trying to force their veteran teachers out with all sorts of outrageously illegal and discriminatory rules now. They want cheap little newly minted teachers at half the price who will be thrilled to teach Commie Core, How to Lobotomize Your Students and anything else the politicians and fake “ed-deformers” dictate, because they are not being granted tenure. The veteran teachers realize the crapitude of Commie Core, and therefore, they must go.
