Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) offered his sympathies to Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) in a brief statement late Tuesday after his top lieutenant was defeated in a stunning primary loss.
Eric Cantor and I have been through a lot together, Boehner said in a statement that read like a condolence note. Hes a good friend and a great leader, and someone Ive come to rely upon on a daily basis as we make the tough choices that come with governing. My thoughts are with him and Diana and their kids tonight. Boehner and Cantor have worked closely together in the last two years after a tense period in the first year of Boehners tenure as Speaker.
Cantor was seen as Boehners heir apparent, and his loss will shake up the line succession in the House GOP ranks.
In a shocking upset, Cantor was defeated, 56 percent to 44 percent, by conservative David Brat, a Tea Party-aligned college professor with no experience in elected office.
Where is the endorsement of Brat and a call for unity?
what tough choices?
Boner : new song for ya : “ Cry Me A River “!!
Both you idiots.
Did Boner cry? LOL
Boehner, do you not remember what happened in 2006 the last time Republicans supported amnesty? You ought to be on your knees thanking the good conservatives of Virginia’s 7th district for saving your job. Because if amnesty passes between now and November, you can say ‘hello’ to Speaker Pelosi again.
The Potomac is getting a little salty... and orange.
Which is his biggest asset.
Which surrender analogy to use today.
* Close and seal the Southern US Border, all 2,000 + miles of it.
* Cancel NAFTA.
* Abolish all Federal, State and Local Welfare payments to non-citizens of the USA.
* Block all money transfers to Mexico, or other any Country South of our Southern Border.
* Have lunch.
* After lunch, pass and sign Federal Penalty law to anyone who hires an Illegal Alien Invader, with a fine of $1,000 per day per alien.
* String Concertina Wire Holding-Pen Stockades at 100 mile intervals for the gotta-ways.
* Be as hostile to Mexicans as the Mexicans have been to the US Marine held and tortured in Prison by the Mexican Guards for the last two months.
* Hire Greyhound Bus Company to transport Illegal Alien Invaders to Sheriff Joe Arpaios Chain Link Desert Spa near Phoenix, Arizona.
* Have supper.
Eric - I NEED you!
losing cantor probably means that crybaby boehner is out as speaker.
chances greatly increased we will have a real conservative take weepy’s place.
Boehner, let this and your pathetic margin of victory against a 30 year old adjunct professor with a couple thousand dollars be a message to you.
We have had it with your weak, feckless leadership. We gave you a majority to fight Obama, but when courageous senators like Ted Cruz held the line, you retreated. You have buckled time and time again, you have stripped small-government upstarts of committee assignments against the will of the people, and worst of all, you have helped prop up the treacherous Mitch McConnell in the senate.
Resign now, Boehner. Not just your speakership, but your congressional seat as well. Back when you entered congress, you were that age’s equivalent of a rebel congressman who pledged to stand up against the stale leadership of the time in 1991, but you have been absorbed by the borg. You are the borg. Its time to shut down one last time.
We want a CONSERVATIVE speaker! If only to counteract a possible McConnell-led senate.
With no experience as a GOP elected official, how will he know how to surrender correctly?
Wanna bet he had a good long cry before delivering his statement.
It should turn "Blood Red" as spoken in the Old Testamant
As a sign that these times "Are a Changing " !!
When to bend over for the Caliph. Timing is everything.
Did he cry?
Boehner will now have to offer the Tea Party an acceptable replacement for Cantor , most likely Jeb Hensarling, and plum assignments to try to save his job.
I think if he offers anything less he will lose. And that might not be enough.
This is a HUGE victory.
It can be anyone. One does not have to be a House member to be Speaker. How about Dick Cheney? Or Rush Limbaugh? That would drive the Democrats absolutely nuts.
GOPe Unity means conservatives surrender.
Bonehead and McCarthy will be a goner in the future, as well.
Conservatives in the house smell blood in the water.
You can bet the GOPe are already plotting how to either have the Dem beat Brat or how to bring Brat into line.
Hopefully Brat’s a Cruz who won’t be co-opted.
I’m in..., one day is more than enough time to take of all those issues...!
Fuel the C-130’s

John Boehner just walked up to the restaurant to mine. Do I ask him how he feels about losing Cantor? #HardChoices 7:42 PM - 10 Jun 2014

Boehner silent on Cantor. "Oh you all know what the rules are," he says to reporters outside the restaurant before closing the car door. 9:32 PM - 10 Jun 2014
If all goes well, after the Benghazi select, we should have Gowdy as SOH.
The Federal Politicians blew it by not enforcing their own laws, so it is time, - - - time for a change.
I hope that the weeping liberal bonehead is the next to be voted out of office!
Obviously this is a shock to the kids they will never recover from. They’re not automatic members of the oligarchy anymore.
gowdy has already said clearly he does not nor will have any interest in being speaker.
quietly a lot of support is coalescing around jeb hensarling of texas.
My thoughts are with him and Diana and their kids tonight.
Love it Grae W.
I would add “go to Disney World” ...
Well said, Viennacon.
I’m so sick of all these larcenous unprincipled Grifters hugging & spooning each other....
Cantor met his wife, Diana Marcy Fine, on a blind date; they were married in 1989. They have three children: Evan, Jenna, and Michael. Fine is a lifelong, liberal Democrat. Contrary to her husbands stated positions, she is pro-choice and supports same-sex marriage.
Diana Cantor is a lawyer and certified public accountant. She founded, and from 1996 until 2008 was executive director of, the Virginia College Savings Plan (an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia). She was also chairman of the board of the College Savings Plans Network. Mrs. Cantor is a managing director in a division of Emigrant Bank, a subsidiary of New York Private Bank & Trust Corp.
Diana Cantor, the wife of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, was elected this month to the board of the cosmetic giant Revlon the fourth public company for which she serves as a director.
The Cantors have a longtime friendship with Ronald Perelman, the chairman of Revlons board and the head of holding company MacAndrews & Forbes that owns a large chunk of the cosmetic company.
Diana F. Cantor, has served on our Board of Directors since October 2005, serves as the Chairperson of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and also serves on the Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board of Directors. Ms. Cantor joined Alternative Investment Management, LLC as a Partner in January 2010 and is the Chairman of the Virginia Retirement System, where she also serves on the Audit and Compliance Committee. Ms. Cantor was a Managing Director with New York Private Bank and Trust from January 2008 through the end of 2009. Ms. Cantor served as Executive Director of the Virginia College Savings Plan, the states 529 college savings program, from 1996 to January 2008. Ms. Cantor served seven years as Vice President of Richmond Resources, Ltd. from 1990 through 1996, and as Vice President of Goldman, Sachs & Co. from 1985 to 1990. Ms. Cantor is also a member of the Boards of Directors of Media General, Inc., Universal Corporation, Revlon, Inc., Knowledge Universe-US and Service King Body and Paint LLC. Ms. Cantor also previously served on the Boards of Directors of the Edelman Financial Group Inc. and Vistage International.
That Man Looks Very Isolated.
Is he with that girl next to him? has he asked her to have a drink or three with him?
[Trade Secret: “When you have a Federal Politician’s attention, be sure to hit ‘em between the eyes with the sledge hammer of REALITY!” ]
During his concession speech(or whatever that was), she looked like Spitzer’s wife did at his cheating lynching.
What a piece of .... stuff this guy is. Unfortunately he’ll be plaguing us for years to come.
Did he cry for him?
The first reports of Boehner eating at Albertos came in during the early evening. And there he stayed. Around 10 p.m., after Chambliss and Burr left, the speaker went to amble home. Asked if he had any comment about the Cantor primary he said, No, you all know what the rules are a reference to his unofficial rule that he does not take questions except at press conferences.
His tough choices mean tough luck and FU to middle America.
Wow, this should be a RINO “get a clue” moment, but they have no clue.
They can cry in their beer together later.
But first, can they shake it off like men and get behind the duly elected candidate?
Bonehead and Cantor are cheap sell out crooks that need to be purged.
The job is half done.
And a community organizer with no experience who was elected twice is so much better, right?
Maybe Diana, Eric’s lovebug, will give him a job on the board of directors at Revlon. Why not? keep in it the family. Some think he’s finished politically, at the age of 51.
