Well, Cantor is still a congressman until the next congress starts, on January 3, 2015.

In fact, I’ve heard, even before his election defeat, that amnesty could happen in the lame duck session of Congress later this year. Stay tuned. Cantor and other lame ducks will have nothing to lose if they decide to push amnesty.

My fear is that now people like Cantor will give it everything they have as a final FU to the conservatives that have spoken, called and emailed about not passing amnesty.

All the more reason to consolidate the move into what is now a vacuum created by the instant “lame duck” status of Eric Cantor.

Rep. Cantor may not any longer have the necessary clout and support of his fellow Republicans to effectively lead on anything. This degree of disarray may not have been what the Democrats would have liked to see, as they even now plotting to totally disrupt whatever legislative session remains before elections and the installation of the new Congress. It certainly throws a wrench into their “order of battle” with the Republican majority.
