A Long Shot So Long, the Tea Party Took a Pass
New York Slimes ^ | JUNE 11, 2014 | DAVID S. JOACHIM

Posted on 06/11/2014 10:32:18 AM PDT by E. Pluribus Unum

WASHINGTON — David Brat, the man who derailed Representative Eric Cantor’s congressional career and aspirations to become speaker of the House, faced such long odds in his challenge to the No. 2 House Republican that he failed to win the backing of any of the major Tea Party groups that inspired his candidacy.

TEA Party Express is just a money-skimming scam, in my opinion.

If you support a candidate, give directly to that candidate.

Some of the TEA party ‘national groups’ are just establishment people there to soak up TEA party funding.

ONLY DONATE TO SPECIFIC CANDIDATES

There is no such thing as a national TEA party

The tea party elected Brat plain and simple. The moron who wrote this piece of asswipe should get out of his office once in a while.

These TEA party organizations remind me of Flip Wilson's Reverend character..
Jesus said to sell all your possessions give the money to the poor then follow Him.
Reverend Flip, jokingly, said, “Jesus said sell all you have and give the money to me!”
Honest TEA folk deal directly with the candidate. The TEA scammers say, “Give us the money and we will support your candidate!”

There is no such thing as a TEAP Party. the TEA Party is nothing but like-minded individuals acting on concert. There is no national organization, so there is no party that can support a candidate financially. Individual TEA Party members donate and that is difficult to track.

Glad to hear someone else say this. I never got how there could be an "official" tea party organization, you're tea party or not based on your views.

“The moron who wrote this piece of asswipe should get out of his office once in a while.”

His objective was propaganda, to assure his readers the Big, Bad Tea Party does not exist. The best thing about this is, if they don’t believe it exists they can’t take effective action to counter it. (This BTW, is the reason militant Islam is resurgent around the world. All the agencies who would fight them have been told to assure the world militant Islam doesn’t exist. You can’t fight something you won’t acknowledge exists.)

So the tea party sucks...I get it!

The Slimes is equating the TEA party with tax-exempt "send us your money" groups with "Tea Party" in their name.

The TEA party ain't a party. Their Alinsky-shrunk minds can't grasp that.

The Tea Party Express and Tea Party Patriots refused to help Brat. They gave him $0, although the TPE director makes a quarter of a million dollars. After his win, she refused to take his phone call.

DO NOT give money to these fake conservative orgs!

Tea Party “Groups” is an oxymoron. The Tea Party is grass roots and from there the support grows a few dollars/one person at a time if need be. Most of the TP “groups” aren’t any different than the Dem or Republican established parties.

Sal Russo, one of the founders of TPE, "has also worked for Orrin Hatch, Jack Kemp, and George Pataki."

Not exactly a rock-solid conservative lineup there.

He hasn’t read that excellent little tale. The Tea Party isn’t the ship. The Tea Party isn’t the sails of the ship. The Tea Party isn’t even the crew on the ship.

The Tea Party is the wind.

We need to drive this point home. Get into the media that the Tea Party who put Cantor out are the people, not any organization. And that the real Tea Party is the people, not any organization. All organizations go to the dark side pretty quick.

As far as I know, there was no Tea Party organization at all when I attended an Obamacare protest of over a million people who individually banded together to fight Washington.

The Slimes still doesn’t get it. There is no TEA Party. There is no leader to smear, sabotage, and ridicule. By the way, that is precisely why there is no way for us to beat the terrorists. There are too many different groups to fight in a conventional manner.

That is true. At a local Tea Party meeting a speaker told us of how all they do is raise money and use the money to raise more money. They give very little to actual candidates.

The Tea Party is an important faction of the Republican Party but it is not the total reason for ousting the RINOS. In Texas, Empower Texans is more powerful and puts money behind ousting RINO incumbents. That organization is smart, influential and targets RINOs. If they don’t get a targeted RINO the first time, they will get them the second!

Another very influential group is Texans for Lawsuit Reform. They also are very good at putting money behind conservative candidates.

I resent these national TEA PARTY groups trying to co opt the grassroots movements of the people. Local Tea Party groups are more effective at getting the vote out and working for candidates.

Please define the tea party, eg. names, dates, places, platform.

The Tea Party had nothing to do with Brat’s win.

Jenny Beth Martin(Tea Party Patriots) wouldn’t return his calls, saying he didn’t have a chance.

Freedom Works and others dissed him as well.
Brat won with good qualifications, hard working grassroots and a wing and a prayer.
