Cantor's loss proves there's no point in being Tea Party Light — so the speaker should lean decisively toward pragmatism Cantor's loss proves there's no point in being Tea Party Light — so the speaker should lean decisively toward pragmatism

Schadenfreude cocktails must have been flowing in Speaker John Boehner’s office as America began practicing saying “Congressman Brat.” You see, for years, the biggest headache for the Republican speaker has not been Nancy Pelosi, George Soros or Mike Bloomberg, but his own second-in-charge, Eric Cantor.

Almost from the moment of the ascent of the GOP in Congress on the wings of the Tea Party movement, the struggle for the soul of the party has been on full display — with the largely pragmatic speaker in nearly daily battles with Cantor, who saw his path to the top job as being the mouthpiece of the obstructionist wing of their caucus.

LOL. Yeah. Right. There might be 10 people in DC that are capable of being “real leaders”.

The headline is all wrong. These worthless meatbags are elected to be representatives of their constituents, not their “leaders”. We are a representative republic, not a stinking democracy.

the purist “do nothing” ethos of the Tea Party movement

The TEA Party is NOT advocating doing nothing. We are advocating to secure the border, institute high fines for those who hire illegal aliens and to deport the damned criminals, not let them loose like Obama does. If the illegal aliens can't get jobs or government handouts, they WILL go home.

perhaps the best deal for his party and the country...

is to force amnesty on us?

This article was written by a LIBERAL, why do the Republicans keep accepting advice from their enemies?

I do agree with the previous post about resigning. I can’t recommend Ryan for anything as he’s all in for amnesty also; been listening to “advice” for too long I guess.

Bingo! For that reason alone, this article deserves no consideration. Were you a leader Mr. Danger? How suddenly now are your words so sagacious?

We need to get rid of John Boehner. We also need to get rid of McConnell in the senate. If we could have “CONSERVATIVE” leaders in both houses, we can put a stop to OBAMAs plans for the destruction of this country. All we have to do is take his money away. Since congress has the “POWER OF THE PURSE”, they have a say on everything that the president can do. I don’t believe that these people realize how much power they have, over the president. Let them begin to show it.

The speaker is not a political leader nor does he even care to lead.

He fundamentally sees his job as being that of a good transactional politician and deal maker, not as a political leader.

Well, from their description of what was in the pamphlets, it is at least consistent with legitimate racist literature. There is a movement to create a “whites only” nation in the Pacific Northwest, and one sentence they quoted is a fragment of the “14 words”, a White Separatist slogan that they are fond of using.

So, it could be legit, or it could be the product of a hoaxer that did good research. Hoaxers don’t usually follow that M.O. though. They are more likely to spraypaint a swastika the wrong way and then wonder how they got found out.
