INGRAHAM: National Tea Party Groups Didn’t Help Brat [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 6-11-14 | Heather Smith

Radio talk show host and Fox News contributor Laura Ingraham called out national tea party groups for allegedly “not helping” David Brat, the college professor who derailed U.S. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s congressional career in the Republican primary for Virginia’s 7th Congressional District.

Brat has been reported as a “tea party-backed candidate” but Ingraham disagrees with giving credit to the national tea party groups for his victory Tuesday night.

“People say this is a big tea party victory. So people understand this — the national Tea Party Network, Tea Party Patriots, Freedom Works — I don’t believe any of these organizations did anything for Dave Brat. Dave Brat couldn’t get Jenny Beth Martin, who is the head of the Tea Party Patriots, the largest tea party organization in the country — he couldn’t get her on the phone, much to my consternation,” Ingraham told Fox News Channel Tuesday night.

The radio host continued: “The national tea party groups were not helping at all. There were little pockets in Virginia but no national presence.”

I would say that Tea Party Express is one of “the national Tea Party” organizations. If you hear about them nationally, if there is no local organization with the name, stay away.

An organization named something Tea Party called me a few weeks ago. They said they were founded by a prominent conservative republican whom I knew and respected, but I didn’t know anything about the organization. I had never heard about them before.

They wanted money but I told them I only gave to local organizations that I knew. They tried to impress upon me the need to support candidates across the country. I said I support other non local candidates who are conservative. They said they did that too so I could safely send them the money. I asked which candidates they supported. They said they couldn’t tell me that yet. I reiterated that I only give money to candidates I support and ended the call.

They are what I would call a “national Tea Party,” but I doubt they were a grassroots organization. All they wanted was my money.

The point is talk is cheap. They can say whatever they can think of to get your money and unless it is a local organization that you can investigate yourself, you’ll never know exactly what they are doing with the money they take from you. You could be funding the worse RINOs.

Tea Party Patriots is pretty bad. But Tea Party Express and TeaParty.net are absolute frauds. They existing solely to fundraise and spend almost nothing to help anyone get elected.

As I have been warning you, the big, national tea party groups are mostly shysters and con-men raising money for their own self-aggrandizement. (Today, they’re blast-faxing “media availability” notices to television networks claiming credit for Brat’s victory.) -- ann coulter

I still consider myself more of a tea party person than a republican, but that said, they have started to become an organization with ranks, as well, and as far as I can tell, they are not doing as much good as they once did. I’m not knocking the TP locally. It is made up of you and I. However, the TP nationally has backed some real losers, that in the long run have been less than stellar. They need to vet people better, as I stated in other comments earlier.

TEA Party is a state of mind, not an organization.
