If Jeb Bush was considering a White House run in 2016, he’d better think again.
House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s stunning loss Tuesday night to underfunded Tea Party candidate David Brat in Virginia has sent shock waves through the Republican Party — including to Jeb Bush, who will now have to reassess whether he even has a shot at the Oval Office.
Cantor’s remarkable defeat was a nationwide wake-up call that not only is the Tea Party formidable, but that Republican voters are not happy with the GOP’s establishment position on amnesty for illegal immigrants and other hot-button issues fracturing the party.
The shake-up also sent the hopeful message that you can’t buy an election. In the Virginia race, Brat bounced Cantor with just a $200,000 war chest. The mighty Cantor spent $5.5 million and lost by more than 10 points.
So when U.S. Sen. Harry Reid drones on about the Koch brothers buying political influence in the GOP, his “theory” need not apply in Virginia. Voters determined the race in Virginia’s 7th Congressional District, not money.
It’s speculated that one of the key reasons for Cantor’s unexpected loss was due to his soft stance on immigration. Given that Jeb Bush has spoken out in support of giving millions of illegal immigrants amnesty, calling their entry in the United States an “act of love,” he’d be smart to hand the presidential reins over to a viable Tea Party candidate now.
Same with U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio or any other Republican presidential hopeful who supports giving illegals a free ride on taxpayers’ backs.
They may want to pick up a new set of golf clubs and figure out a career Plan B.
In the U.S. right now, the national debt is close to $18 trillion. Since his inauguration, President Obama has increased food stamp dependence by 70 percent and added more debt than any other president in history. With Obamacare expected to add yet another $2 trillion onto the tab, it’s no wonder Tea Party voters and fiscal conservatives are crying foul — and ousting candidates who want to saddle even more debt onto future generations.
It’s simply not economically feasible to give millions of illegals free health care, free education, housing, food, phones and more, and expect middle-class taxpayers to pay for it.
Voters in Virginia just said no. Just wait until November, when more polls open.

The thought of a 70% increase in food stamps is ghastly.
The (mostly) non-moonbat paper in town (Globe is moonbat). Herald has the great Howie Carr, etc. (They do have some token moonbats like Peter Gelzinis and Marge Eagan though)

I thought it was the Boston Globe that was whacko while the Herald was lightly more rational.
While I think you just can’t extrapolate what happens in a House District to a Statewide or National election ... Good Heavens I love that first sentence.
What's my point? This Boston Herald article has it correct, and the RINOs should realize it's "game up". Real US citizens are sick of the invasion of the US and sick of the debt and sick of government over-reach into their lives. Even in the Yankee core of MA.
This is why people call it the "Star Liar", and they literally GIVE the paper away for free at my local Dunkin Donuts.
And of course, in the article, they use the PC term "undocumented immigrants" (no, they are LAW BREAKING ILLEGAL ALIENS!!! Quick, someone call the Thought Police, I've committed a Thought Crime). And when talking about Brat's position on immigration, they felt the need to put the word "illegals" in quotes, as if it is a slur or a phony word or something.
Absolutely pathetic.
And I believe in a cost saving measure, the Herald is actually PRINTED by the Globe. The Herald used to have a huge building with presses, etc. but recently moved to a more modern, smaller space, and at least some editions of the Herald are printed by the Globe.

Brown said on Howie Carr’s show and in his ads, etc he wouldn’t vote the strict party line—he’d do what he thought best. That didn’t stop the Dems from running ads saying, “Who is Scott Brown, really? A Republican. Who will vote in lockstep with the Republican party. At times like these, we don’t need a Republican..like Scott Brown.”
“Republican” evidently meant “Nazi”. Did he vote the straight party line? No, but then again the GOP-e isn’t as conservative as we’d like.
The state’s voters are so brainwashed that some GOP candidates downplay the R-word and use terms like “independent voice”.
After years of Dem governors like Mike Dukakis (at least one Dem, though—Ed King—was conservative), there was a 16 yr period of GOP governors: Bill Weld, Paul Cellucci, Jane Swift, Mitt Romney. None hardcore conservative, but the Commonwealth started to pine for another Dem in the Corner Office and elected Deval Patrick in 06 and 10. “Together We Can”—a forerunner of Obama in 08. Charlie Baker, presumptive GOP nominee, may be facing someone like Martha Coakley. Yecch. Lesser of two...
The Boston Herald leans conservative. Like any blue state, Massachusetts, with a population close to 7 million, has a few million conservatives.....the problem is that they are vastly outnumbered by liberals.

Loosely knit groups commonly referred to by the media as “tea party” did support him...vocally.
Where was the financial backing? Where were the people on the street working the vote?
