An eatery in South Florida bit off more than it could chew when a veteran was told his kind was not welcome.
Robert Thompson, a 20-year Navy vet who served in Iraq, visited the Old Key Lime House in Lantana, Fla., on Saturday and was told to remove a leather vest because they do not allow gangs or colors at the restaurant, WPTV reported.
The vest was covered with patches associated with his military service, such as a large patch depicting his affiliation with American Legion Post 180, according to the local NBC affiliate.
A porpoise driven life? Woman has sex with a dolphin during a NASA-funded experiment
You dont see anything thats derogatory, Thompson told WPTV. You dont see anything thats intimidating. All it is, is just a bunch of bright colors.
But the manager saw it differently.
He [the manager] goes, we dont want you here, we dont like what you stand for, Thompson said. I looked at him and just went, Wow.
Thompson shared his experience on Facebook afterwards and the story took off.
As fate would have it, the owner of the restaurant and his daughter are both veterans, and the manager who made the comments was suspended, WPTV reported.
He shouldnt have been out there speaking, manager Katherine Kenyon. We apologize for that. We welcome them [bikers and veterans].

Manager just cost the owner his business.
but did they fire him?
Another victim of public school!
You know, you can delete those teaser lines to other articles from stuff that you post. Talking about the dolphin thing.......
What do porpoises have to do with this story?
(The 4th sentence..........)
But I’ll bet the manager allowed that woman and her dolphin partner in!

Way to hijack your own thread.
Did you do this on porpise?
Sounds like the manager was on the snippy side.
Any pics or video on the poorpuss show?
That threw me off as well until I clicked on the actual page to see it not being part of the article. I’m glad the vet spoke up and the owners sound earnest. I guess they need the help, but they should fire that foul mouthed staffer.
Looking forward to seeing a “Closed” sign on the front door very soon.
The owner just suspended him.
I see this is a new story but I swear I saw one very similar to this a couple of months ago. A Vet with a service patch jacket (not vest) kicked out of an eatery.
Key West is rife with homosexual friendly businesses. I guess veterans aren’t welcome there....
Florida media isn’t covering this.
Florida news ping.
Sorry, this is not Key West. I misread.
As fate would have it, the owner of the restaurant and his daughter are both veterans, and the manager who made the comments was suspended, WPTV reported.Sorry this was not in the headline!
Nah!...He did it just for the halibut.
