Jesse Brisbin, a 30-year-old twice-convicted sex offender allegedly attempted to abduct a six-year-old girl from a Seattle park on Thursday evening, but he picked the wrong park to act on his compulsion. According to witnesses, he made it about three blocks with the girl after grabbing her by the hand and wrapping his shirt around her face before a group of about 20 neighborhood children and adults caught up with him.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the six-year-old girl broke free and Brisbin tried to run away. The men tackled Brisbin, who lives only about a half-mile from Benefit Park. The girls father then made the man call 911 on his own cell phone, reporting himself to police. When the cops got there, they found three men, including the girls father, delivering a beating to the fallen Brisbin.
As one witness reported, Brisbin assaulted one of the men who caught up to him as he tried to get away, which sparked their attack on him.
The six-year-old child was playing in the park with her siblings when Brisbin allegedly approached her and asked him to come wither her. She recognized Brisbin from the neighborhood and from a time when he had attempted to purchase a household appliance from her parents. But she refused to go with him.
The scariest part was I didnt want to go with the man with the red and black bag, the girl told KIRO TV News, and he took me all the way down the hill.
Who knows what would have happened to the girl had the concerned neighbors failed to chase down the suspect and administer a dose of instant karma?
When he got her he took his shirt off and tied it over her face and her ears and told her that he was going to take the poison out of her, said the girls mom, Vernee Fletcher, through tears.
Fletcher got her daughter back soon after the incident, and she believes she might never have seen her child again, if not for the prompt reaction of her neighbors. It felt like my skin melted into hers, the harder I hugged her.
Brisbin was wearing an ankle bracelet at the time of the attempted kidnapping, stemming from a 2009 conviction for exposing himself to two children in Bellvue, Washington. He was also convicted of kidnapping, criminal sexual contact and child endangerment in New Jersey 10 years before that. In that case, he was also disciplined for attempting to cut off his required ankle bracelet.
Were kind of wondering how was someone like this is roaming around in our neighborhood, said Fletcher, who also believes that the close sense of community in the Seattle neighborhood around Benefit Park is what ultimately saved her daughter from an unthinkable fate.
He’s lucky I wasn’t around. I would have driven his nose through the back of his head.
:: Were kind of wondering how was someone like this is roaming around in our neighborhood ::
Because hand-wringers in your State (not you, RWI) have determined that sexual urges of any type are acceptable and, if you cross over community norms according to those urges....
The DEATH PENALTY is just too cruel and unusual a punishment.
This is actually a “happy” story and kudoes to the community activists that did the beating.
I’d like to hear about other parents on FR handling such situations. I have one that I’ll relate in another post.
Somehow I kind of doubt that he was a conservative/Tea Party kind of guy. Bet he has an Obama sticker on his car.
We took my youngest daughter and her friends to a Harry Potter movie for her birthday; about 10 people, including my wife and I.
We sat about 4 rows behind the group. While waiting for the “previews” to end, a scruffy ne’er-do-well arrived and sat right behind the group. I moved to a position immediately behind this perv and, in a low voice, told him that I was committed to watching him and not the movie.
He left about 15 minutes into the movie.
One mistake, they should have killed him and not bothered with the police.
As good a story as any. Too bad the perv survived. He would have tortured and murdered that little girl, and given the chance he'll kill another little girl.
Pedophile need to be removed from society forever.
I consider myself a “community activist/organizer”, in the patriotic sense of the term.
That is their story, and they are sticking with it.
Pedophiles need to be removed from society forever.
I have heard some say, there is no cure for this, so maybe you are right.
Ankle bracelet instead of prison.
How is this guy not in prison?
If this were England, the perv would be free and the three men defending the girl would be looking at 20 years each.
And the judge would have said the following:
“The man (perv) has been through enough, he won’t do it again (LOL). The defenders went WAY BEYOND what was necessary to secure the girl. Once they had the girl, there was no need for further action.”
20 years each, lives ruined - as if the 3 guys had instead planned and robbed a bank, and shot someone in the process.
Thankfully this isn’t England, but it is Seattle, so we’ll see.
These street justice stories are a great way to start the day. There should be a ping list for this.
His spell check didn’t complain, which is the extent of “editing” these days.
I don’t know or really care about his political leanings.
But I’ve got a pretty good guess of the politics of the NJ and WA judges who gave him short sentences, freed him repeatedly—and put him in an ankle bracelet after a prior escape thereof.
Sounds like the cops have their backs. Perp reportedly attacked one of them.
They need to throw away the key. This guy should never see the light of day and the cops, most of whom are probably dads themselves, know it.
He fits right in with historical libertarian party platforms from the eighties.
The only differential is whether or not he wants to pay taxes.
