Obama: Iraq needs to solve its own problems

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama says Iraq’s government must make a sincere effort to address sectarian differences, or else U.S. military help won’t succeed in curbing the insurgency there. He says, quote, “We can’t do it for them.” Obama says the U.S. won’t send troops back into Iraq. But he says he’s asked his national security team to prepare a range of other options. He says he’ll review those options in the coming days. Obama says the risk posed by terrorists in Iraq could eventually pose a threat to U.S. interests, too. The only way that Iraq’s problems are solved is by boots on the ground killing the enemy. You know the one thing we did not allow them to do when they were there!
Drones and missile’s will not solve this. We had the opportunity when our troops were there but our leaders lacked the balls to allow them to do their job.

Look at it this way. Bush went into Iraq and he took out the enemy of Iran. Now Iran is back in Iraq...

I don't think Iran is the problem at this moment.

That said,I'm beginning to wonder, like you, if there could be a silver lining: if the Iraqis can retain most of what they now have, it will evolve into a regional sectarian struggle--with Iran up to it's knees. The terrorists will find that it is easier to take territory over there than it is to hold onto it while surrounded on all sides, and an over-extended Iran might become increasingly vulnerable to popular uprisings.

IMHO Iran will 'help' the United States... in exchange Iraq will be divided into 3 "states'... the best part - the part with oil in the south will go to Iran.

The Sunni part will be in the middle and not have oil... or anything.

The top third will be given to Turkey. Turkey will go hard right Islamist... Within a few years the Sunni part will be destroyed. Iran will control 90% of the ME.

Putin will get Ukraine, the Chinese will control most of Asia... and the US ... well, best not to guess..
