How did this all begin? It seems it just happened out of nowhere! Our media has barely mentioned this, and this could be the biggest story of the year.

From all indications, the U.S. intelligence and diplomatic agencies were caught flat footed by this offensive. There have been some discussions between the US and our 'regional partners' about the rising threat of ISIS, and certainly their activities in Syria were noted, but it really seems like we just dropped the ball.
