A U.S. contractor in Iraq told WND the Iraqi Air Force has begun evacuations from Balad Air Force Base, where 200 American contractors were trapped by the al-Qaida-inspired jihadists who have seized control of two cities and are now threatening Baghdad.
Frank Biggs, a contractor with Sallyport Global, told WND through a Skype instant message that he was transported from Balad to Baghdad and was communicating from a C-130 preparing to take off to Dubai.
Biggs said 300 in total have been evacuated from Balad and another 100 are still awaiting airlift. He said the Iraqi Air Force is trying to evacuate everyone by midnight local time.
WND previously reported Friday that private contractors who have recently returned to the U.S. from Iraq said their former colleagues effectively had been abandoned by the U.S. military and were fighting for their lives against an army of jihadists surrounding the base who belong to the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

Privately scheduled exit flights had fallen through, sources said, as several private pilots originally scheduled to make the flights quit.
The sources contended the U.S. military could provide the necessary air cover to protect C-130s or other air transport craft sufficient to make the evacuation, but far officials had refused to get involved.
Officials had refused to get involved? Obama refuses to get involved in this mess of his own making...for the Muslim Brotherhood?
Why do they need air cover? Stingers?
Yet another impeach able offense that will be ignored.
We should just change our motto to “embrace the suck”.
Obama always drags his feet.
Obama always acts opposite to what his US Military Personnel advise, never takes responsibility of any blunders that he makes, and then leaves his employees to die on the battlefields caused by his blunders.
REMEMBER BENGHAZI !
It will be wonderful if we can somehow get the Iranians to send troops to help the Shiites in Iraq. The Iranians shouldn’t let the Sunnis get away with what they’re trying to pull!!
REMEMBER BENGHAZI !
I’m waiting for the true conservatives in congress to reach that “THAT’S IT!” point and start going nuts on the rinos, sort of like they do sometimes in the British parliament.
That would make for some really good youtube footage! I mean, there has to come a breaking point.
Tell Obama, he’ll be rescuing more American deserters and collaborators.
Relax. Obama will help Iraq by giving refugee status to 10m Iraqi Shiites as they flee the al Qaeda onslaught.
Couldn’t he just declare Baghdad a national monument?
During the cartoon riots in Morocco an armored column appeared at the compound where GD personnel maintained Morocco’s tanks. They took the GD personnel to the airport and guarded them until they were all on a jet and airborne. When the riots were over Morocco guaranteed their safety and invited them back. They returned. The government in Arab countries know that if the tanks stop working they are in serious trouble. If I recall they have 400 M60’s. (Oh, and a bunch of other assorted frames from Soviet to German.)
We don’t leave any American behind - Obama
Exactly what I was worried about. Damn it!
I hear Rocky and Bullwinkle, Bugs and Daffy were all involved.
I am not sure about that. Is 0bama a Sunni or a Shi’a?
So, our president was unwilling to allow our Air Force to rescue 200 Americans from being overrun and having their heads cut off by jihadist maniacs, but the Iraqi Air Force had no problem taking time off in the middle of their bloody civil war to help our people.
If only a single one of the 200 rescued Americans who were abandoned to death by Obama has the courage to speak out about the outrage that was committed against him and his 199 colleagues by our president, Obama’s presidency will be in a shambles, and cries for his impeachment will deafen the heavens.
But is there a single person of courage among the 200 who will speak out?
I wouldn’t count on the pilots coming back from Dubai for another load of passengers. These poor people will be left behind.
“...and the U.S. Air Force was in a stand-down position. U.S. forces were not assisting even with air cover so a private extradition flight could land for a rescue”
Benghazi take 2...
Anyone see Obama on the golf course? I’m sure he is doing something to entertain himself.
Thank you to the Iraqi Air Force.
Just last week we traded 5 taliban commanders for 1 deserter because the Commander in Chief subscribes to the long tradition of leaving no man behind. But today, we abandon 200 Americans...
That's 200 additional GITMO clearing bargaining chips for Obama.
Obama has all of this bass-ackwards.
You would think he was doing it on purpose or something!
Can we trade and send the skinny ass pos in on the back haul?
Fist comes Benghazi, where we leave Americans to die, then we trade 5 prisoners for a deserter because "we don't leave Americans behind," and now we leave 200 more Americans behind. Did I get that right?
“...Iraqi Airforce evacuating American...”
“...Obama eating fish taco’s...says he’ll get to it next week...fundraising and golf were pre scheduled for the weekend...”
“In uniform.” He qualified his remarks.
Wow! I didn’t know that the Iraqis had any flying camels...
He is. Everything Clown Prince nobama does is intentional. Everything.
Unbelievable. Our own people who are being threatened, get evacuated by Iraqi’s to Baghdad, which is a city under siege whose defense is being run by an Iranian General and 500 Iranian Quds forces. These are US citizens left behind by Obama. Great that someone helped them, but wondering why Obama left them to die and you have to wonder what the Iranians will do to them in Baghdad.
This looks it’s going to be another boring weekend for Susan Rice, having to schlep herself around the Sunday talk show circuit again, this time to lie that Obama had no knowledge that there was an Iraqi civil war going on, that he thought the word Isis was the name of a frozen dessert, and that leaving 200 Americans to die in Iraq was Chuck Hagel’s decision.
Since Chuck Hagel was thrown under the bus just a few days ago when he was blamed for releasing the five jihadi terrorists from Guantanamo, he’ll have to be dragged out from under the vehicle so he can be thrown back again after he’s been given the Susan Rice treatment on Sunday.
More lesser evil. today seems to be filled with it.
Either they are big COWARDS and SCARED to DEATH of this administration or they have been so blinded by propaganda they think it will" all get better soon"...
GOD HELP US!!!! WE are GOING UNDER!!!
A breaking point assumes that there is any meaningful disagreement with the course of events.Unfortunately there isn’t. The gop wing of the uniparty is just fine with how things are developing.
“so a private extradition flight could land for a rescue”
I wonder who was rescued that required special instructions like this.
Ahh yes. Our uniparty congress is carefully monitoring. Hope that doesn’t interfere with their dinner schedules or tee times or something equally horrible.
Complicit is a good word to describe Congress.
The GOP is morally bankrupt.
A Sunni Prince wrote his recommendation for college and probably paid some of the costs.
“The GOP is morally bankrupt.”
Oh it goes well beyond that. They’re complicit if not actively collaborating in our eventual demise as a country and a culture.
The way to understand the uniparty of which the gop is just one faction is to think about a prostitute dying in a gutter. If you or I or most Americans came up on that, our natural reaction would be to get help! To call an ambulance!
For a member in good standing of the uniparty, their first reaction is to wonder if there’s enough time to get in quick hump before she expires.
Who will be the modern Hercules to clean the Augean gop stables...
What U.S. Air Force? Where are they? I thought there were NO U.S. soldiers of any kind in Iraq...
When you play back every time that was said, it was always “leave no one behind...in UNIFORM.”
