(CT)Lawmakers call on retailers to take measures in reducing gun violence

As a way to reduce gun violence, elected leaders urged retailers to consider voluntary measures to make their stores safer.

Friday, Sens. Richard Blumenthal and Chris Murphy joined Rep. Elizabeth Esty, Ron Pinciaro of Connecticut Against Gun Violence and Monte Frank of Team 26 for a press conference.

The officials called on the National Retail Federation to join the bipartisan push for "commonsense measures to reduce gun violence."

The legislators said there have been an estimated 79 shootings and 19 fatalities at Walmart alone since the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. They also referred to the loaded handgun that was found in the toy aisle of a Target in South Carolina recently.

Blumenthal, Murphy and Esty said they urge members of the National Retail Federation to take precautions to reduce gun violence and support reform.

Wasn't Sandy Hook a "Gun-Free Zone?" I suspect Mayor Doomberg was behind this press conference.

Sounds like they need to put up signs at Wal-Mart “no shooting each other”, and see how that works. (JK)

“commonsense measures to reduce gun violence.”

Unfortunately, the people who whip out this tired phrase have a policy agenda that defines their version of “commonsense” that in a normal world would be viewed as being neither common nor making any sense.

I hate living in Konnecticut.

(If I could unload my house I'd be in Red-state America in a heart-beat).

“79 shootings and 19 fatalities at Walmart since Newton...”

Not a word of reaction to this on Walmart’s twitter account. They had better respond to this immediately, because the same politicians that hate guns, hate Walmart.

Of course, the vast majority of these shootings were likely either police or security or armed citizen shooting an armed and dangerous criminal. If so, Walmart needs to say so.

And quickly.

There is an easy solution to this particular problem:

DON’T EVER GO OUT OF YOUR HOUSE UNARMED!

"Good luck on selling it."

Actually a good place to shelter-in-place when SHTF - because then the Libtards will be irrelevant - and their idiotic gun-laws become moot.

Perhaps it would behoove the “lawmakers” to call on their own constituency not to use firearms when committing criminal acts?

How many stories have we seen of armed criminals robbing "unsafe" gun stores?

Walked into Sportmart the other day.

No mas firesticks or ammunition.

But, but....they do sell archery for kids.

I no longer shop there....

It’s always scary when statist liberals start yammering on about stuff they know nothing about, like common sense.

I know one of the shootings involved a ccw holder shooting a man who was stabbing his girlfriend to death in the store.
