The U.S. may be joining forces with an unlikely adversary -- Iran -- if President Barack Obama decides to use force in Iraq. And its an idea that Tehran is open to, according to a senior Iranian official.
We can work with the Americans to end the insurgency in the Middle East, the official told Reuters in a story published Friday. "We are very influential in Iraq, Syria and many other countries."
The possibility of Iran working with the U.S. to quell the insurgency has been discussed internally among high-ranking Iranian officials, the source said. But it was unclear if those talks reached anyone else, including the United States.
Iran sent two units of its elite Quds Forces into Iraq on Thursday to fight alongside Iraqi soldiers. The units are already making progress, helping the Iraqis reclaim most of Saddam Husseins hometown of Tikrit from the al Qaeda offshoot the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS.

What could possibly go wrong?
Americans in harm’s way for the benefit of Iran, good idea?

Hold it, I thought conservatives got crucified for working with Iraq to fight Iran, but this is ok?
Liberals are starting to learn that keeping those two groups equaled out and fighting each other is ok.
Say it isn’t so.
Well, as long as they kill each other it’s a win-win for us.
I would trust a Reagan with such a temporary alliance but not Obama.
Zero, Plugs, and Lurch already are in an alliance with Iran over its nuclear weapons program, and aligning with Iran is consistent with their backing down over the line in the sand in Syria. All this is consistent with Zero’s policy of turning on every ally of the US, and in his goal of annihilating the Jews and Israel. Thanks Lorianne.
Stupid. That puts us in the middle of a religious war and on the wrong side to boot.
Pretty much says it for me too.
I wouldn’t trust Obama in any situation.
US aircraft flying attack FOR the Ayatollah..!
Oh, now that’s perfect.
The enemy of my enemy? Problem is OBozo has made 3/4 of the world our enemies!
If Obummer has anything to with it, it will be a disaster for America.
So the US is going to help get the weapons back from the maniacs we armed and trained so they could destroy Syria?
Iranians will also be in harm’s way for the benefit of the USA.
Who would you rather have on your side when fighting ISIS — Iranians who are Shia and hate Sunnis or Saudi Arabia who are Sunni and provided almost all of the terrorists for 9/11?
But you still haven’t asked yourself the question whose side Obozo is on when we can safely assume that he is Sunni.
He himself stated that he would be on the side of Islam when the situation turns ugly. He didn’t say that he would be on OUR side.
FYI ISIS is Sunni. Now do the rest of your homework.
The Won is walking away clearing the field for Iran.
Iran has no need of us in the region and now they will get a third of Iraq as a client state and can coordinate terrorism and the bombing of Israel.
He has a tee time and no interest in these things. They are all someone else’s problems.
It is sounding like even Iran has strong apprehensions about ISIS.
US-Iran partnership? The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
Jarrett, the Director of National Intelligence, and Obama are all muslims. Jarrett is Iranian.
If Minitrue were a true news outlet the question might be asked about Iran’s long standing desire to take over Iraq....
No, that’s not true at all!
The muslim world still hates us
he alienated us seeking to destroy relationships with our ww2 allies and G7 trading partners.
He is trying to bat 100% of the world against America.
I’ve mentioned her numerous times, Venezuela funded Chavez’ campaign. Chavez turned Venezuelan into a NARCO nation.
I see the same thing happening here, and have said we are being duped.
ISIS has pledged allegiance to Al Qaeda. Iran has had an allegience with Al Qaeda for years.
The Iraq army outnumbers ISIS rebels 40 - 1. None of this makes sense.
