Discussing House Majority Leader Eric Cantor’s surprising primary loss, on Friday’s Washington Week on PBS, John Harwood, chief Washington correspondent for CNBC, a regular on NBC and MSNBC, and a political writer for the New York Times, blamed hostility to Jews in Cantor’s “very rural conservative southern district.”
“Eric Cantor is a Jewish Republican. This is a very rural conservative southern district where that is not a -- you don’t have a lot of Jewish members of Congress from the South.”
Host Gwen Ifill, hardly a conservative, jumped in to counter Harwood’s presumption: “Oh, but he’s been elected several times from this district.”
Neither-they’re eagerly evil.
I guess the people that elected him all those years had no idea he was Jewish and just found out. Geesh how dumb do they think we are.
Nor did I and I am a politics junkie; I followed his race perhaps more closely (and with more loathing) than any other.
As far as I'm concerned Jewishness would be his only redeeming quality.

I knew a “cantor” was the person in a synagogue who leads the singing and chanting.
I assumed he was not Orthodox, which means I also assumed he was center-left, but I never tried to verify either assumption.
Over the last year, I came to understand that he was part and parcel of the GOP Amnesty Leadership.
His defeat was wonderful news.
Not that his absence will help.
The GOP Leadership will still stuff Amnesty down our threats, possibly before the November election, or absolutely after it.
John Harwood can no longer be taken seriously as a journalist, since he should have known that Americans proved in 2000 that they are not anti-Semitic when the majority of them voted for an Orthodox Jew, Joseph Lieberman, for vice president on the Democratic ticket that won the popular vote that year.
And in the year 2008, Americans proved that they are not racists when they elected Barack Obama to the presidency.
Anyone who accuses Americans of anti-Semitism or racism is not a journalist conveying the truth but instead a propagandist for the Democratic party — one who tries to alarm Jews and Blacks, two of the Democrats’ major voting blocks, that unless they run to the voting booths to vote for Democrats, their Republican opponents will recreate German concentration camps for American Jews and bring back black slavery.
John Harwood should be ashamed of himself and so should the newspapers and networks that purvey his lies.

“Cantor” is Latin for “singer.” The lead singer in the Catholic church is also called a “cantor.”
There is a Hebrew word as well but a lot of synagogues don’t use it.
Nonsense! Cantor defeated himself with his radical amnesty views. He blew a huge lead to an unknown because he turned his back to America.
