The crisis revolves around the Euphrates River, which quickly became the Euphrates Creek when Turkey completely cut off the water flow upstream of Syria, reported Al Akhbar on May 30. The Euphrates originates in Turkey and passes through the Atatürk Dam before flowing into Syria and Iraq. By cutting off the flow and directing it into the reservoir, Turkey has lowered water levels downstream

There are five more dams downstream, before you get to Baghdad.

An attack on the dam is likely. It would flood Bagdad.

Not likely. Baghdad is on the banks of the Tigris River.

Whoever thought they might do that would have to clear out five more dams downstream, before it would ever get to Baghdad.

Look for an attack on the dam next.

From who? Right now Syria and Iraq are in the middle of civil wars. They don't have anything to spare to attack Turkey with.

It would have to be a bigger operation than just that one dam. They would have to clear out five more dams downstream, making six dams in total ... before any water would ever get to Baghdad.

If you haven’t seen it elsewhere, it is probably because it isn’t true. The dams have cut the avg flow by about a third, but both rivers are variable, just like every river on Earth, including the Amazon. The story appears to be either agitprop or some other kind of fake, or based on something that happened over twenty years ago.

> Turkey’s Ataturk Dam was completed in 1990. It is the largest of a series of dams along the two major rivers of the region, the Tigris and Euphrates, which both have their headwaters in southeastern Turkey. Built both to generate electricity for the region and to irrigate the plains between the Euphrates (on which it sits) and the Tigris (to the east), Ataturk Dam is the centerpiece of a huge public works program within Turkey known as the Southeastern Anatolia Project. When the entire program of reservoirs, power generation stations, and irrigation channels is constructed, it will irrigate some 1.7 million hectares (4.2 million acres). The reservoir already provides 8.9 billion kilowatt hours of electricity, roughly 22 percent of Turkey’s anticipated electrical needs in 2010, when the project is expected to be completed.

Well ... I guess that’s not too much different than the “Christian solution” in that Jesus will return and DEPOPULATE the Middle East of ALL MUSLIMS by killing each and every last one of them, when He sets up his ruling Kingdom in Jerusalem.

“From who? “

There are lots of little proxy groups with significant weapons. Hamas in Lebanon is firing Silkworm missiles at Israeli patrol boats, for example. (They’ve achieved five hits that I’m aware of.) It doesn’t have to be a state actor, just an annoyed tribal leader. Also, the way the Romans created Balkanization was to attack one group and leave evidence it was done by another. The Kurds could carry it off and leave evidence it was whoever is annoying their flanks. But believe me, this move on Turkey’s part will cause significant suffering down-stream. They won’t get away with it scot-free.

Actually, most of the other dams are not under Turkish control IIRC so they might be used to moderate downstream flooding. That said, several are in Syria, so that might be a problem.

Keep in mind that Christians have a well-established doctrine (regarding the character and power of God) in that ALL THINGS are under his comtrol - whether ‘permitted’ or by his ‘active will’ - so that NOTHING is outside the control of God.

The real question here is ... “Whose God is really in comtrol, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob - or - the God of Ishmael and Mohammed?”

The answer to that question, comes out in the end as to whether ALL MUSLIMS are killed - or - ALL JEWS are killed.

Christians believe it’s the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who is the true God, and thus it’s ALL MUSLIMS who will be killed, as a result.

I think they’re all currently occupied killing each other and trying to kill Israelis. Which is probably one reason why Turkey is turning the screws at this time. Nobody around to oppose them.

Gee...in my 35 years as a Christian...I somehow missed that “teaching”...

That teaching must be in that weird alternative bible...
