Blair: Don't Blame Me For Meltdown In Iraq:

14 June 2014 | The former Prime Minister insisted he was right to topple Saddam Hussein with the US and said things would have been worse if the dictator had not been ousted from power a decade ago.

Mr Blair ended a week-long silence after mounting claims by diplomats and Labour MPs that his and Mr Bush’s handling of the Iraq War sowed the seeds of the attempt by the Al Qaeda-backed ISIS terror group to conquer Iraq. In a 2,800-word ‘essay’ on the new Middle East conflagration, Mr Blair refused to apologise and argued: Barack Obama ordered US troops to leave Iraq too soon.

Liberals when they're out of power: "vote me in and all your troubles will be over."

Liberals when they're in power: "don't blame me."

My thoughts are Brother B.Hussein, peace be upon him, is allowing this to happen because he knows once the barbarians control the oil, the oil price will skyrocket and destroy the US economy even further. Imagine gas costing $200 a gallon. Everything he does is to ensure the destruction of the Great Satan. That was the reason for Obamacommiecare, why he helped the barbarians in Egypt, Libya, why he released his Islamo Taliban brothers from Gitmo, why he is opening the border. If Democraps and RINOs don’t get their head out of their asses and impeach this punk ASAP, they too will find themselves selling apples in the street unless they’re smart enough to take all that insider trading money they got out of the stock market and put it in a mattress.

I agree w/ Blair.

We should’ve stuck to our agenda and took out Iran and Syria as well.

Bush should have gone in, toppled saddam, and then remove all US troops with the warning, "Any other actions against the US will result in worse repercussions."

Our mistake was to try to civilize an otherwise animalistic culture. Unless we are prepared to exercise dictatorial control over these people, any US presence is a waste of time. They will never become civilized. Ever.

It's always the fault of everyone but Obama. I'm no Tony Blair fan...but didn't he leave office a few years ago? Why is it that the person currently in charge, whose poor decisions created the current mess, is not blamed???

We have plenty of oil and coal in North America, we really don’t need any from the sand Nazis. Of course that’s exactly why Obama doesn’t want us to access those resources. I say drill and dig here, and with any luck the Sunnis and Shiites will continue to slaughter each other like they always have. I call it a win-win.

I think Blair has this right. Had we left a division or more near the Syrian border this would not have happened.

To expect any new government of a country which had existed for many years under a sadistic dictator to succeed without many years of constitutional governing doesn’t make good sense. They need maturing and only a stabilizing force could give them the time.

Europe throughout history has gone from one war to another, some small, some big, but violence and discord going on somewhere. Then came WWII and the US kept a presence there all these years and there has been peace.

The American GI has shown the world to be the greatest peacemaker the world has ever know.

We should’ve stuck to our agenda and took out Iran and Syria as well.

President Bush correctly identified Iran as part of the problem, then ignored Iran.

The golden opportunity when the Iranian people rose up was ignored by Obama.

We now face the Kubashi Maru scenario. And Obama ain't no James T. Kirk.

I finally came to the same conclusion that you seem to hold: i.e. he is willfully and maliciously set out to harm America. My own belief is as yours plus my own belief that he and his administration have bolted from the control of his initial managers-(Rahm Emanuel and others)-and struck out on his own to destroy us.

He speaks in a sort of code; for example recently he stated that "The Dreamers" will save "our" country. By "our" he means "his people," Mexicans and Asians. He hates white America as oppressors of "his people."

I'm wondering if he will leave office at the end of his term?

How long did we retain control of Germany after WWII? How long, after relinquishing control, did we maintain a military presence there as a stabilizing force?

Once you have won a victory you have to nurture it and maintain it. Its not a set-piece game, its dynamic and the other side gets to have a go and even change the rules as they go. The game isn’t over just because you spiked the ball over the net and did a victory dance.

Bush and Blair’s policies are no longer in place - this is the result of the new Obama policies in place for years. Even so, it’s one thing to “quit too soon” and another to just sit on your hands and do nothing knowing they are making their march across the territory - should have acted right away and this threat could have been repelled much more easily then than it will be now. There’s no excuse for this. Bush and Blair would have acted before they took over any significant territory and nipped it in the bud. Obama did nothing and just let it spread like wildfire - yet somehow it’s Bush’s fault that the current crisis has occurred. Nonsensical - typically dishonesty / intellectual bankruptcy from the left.

bBB``~~` Shia–Sunni relations (Wikipedia)

From what I can parse out, it's an all-out battle between Saudi Arabia (Sunni) and Iran (Shia):

Sunni = Wahhabis (Salafiyya), ethnic groups = Arabs, Kurds and Turkmen, military/political groups = Muslim Brotherhood/Al-Qaeda/Taliban/Ansar al-Islam/ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria)/Al-Tawhid Wal-Jihad/Jeish al-Taiifa al-Mansoura/Jeish Muhammad/Black Banner Organization

Shia = Alawites/Fivers/Twelvers, military/political group = Hizbullah/Iranian Qods Force (their special ops)/Mahdi Army (Muqtada al Sadr's group)/League of the Righteous/The Promised Day Brigade

[Note: Baathists = Baath Arab Socialist Party, founded in 1947 by Michel Aflaq (a Christian), Salah al-Din al-Bitar (a Sunni muslim) and the followers of Zaki al-Arsuzi (a Shia Alawite).]

Sunni majority states:
- Saudi Arabia (birthplace of Islam, under Sharia law, but 15% are Shia)
- Pakistan (80% Sunni)
- Jordan (95% Sunni)
- Afghanistan (90-95% Sunni)
- Syria (approximately 3/4 Sunni, but 15% are Shia Baathist rulers)
- Yemen (54% Sunni)

Shia majority states:
- Iran (92% Shia)
- Iraq (65% Shia, but 32% are Sunni who were Baathist rulers)
- Lebanon (Hizbullah)
