Mitt Romney blasts Hillary Clinton as 'clueless'
Yahoo ^ | 6-15-14 | Dylan Stableford

Posted on 06/15/2014 12:48:46 PM PDT by kingattax

Mitt Romney had some harsh words on Sunday for the person many believe will be the Democratic presidential nominee in 2016: Hillary Clinton.

"Consider what's happened around the world during the years that she was secretary of state," the former Massachusetts governor and 2012 Republican presidential nominee said on NBC's "Meet the Press", calling her tenure "a monumental bust."

Romney slammed U.S. foreign policy, saying both Clinton and President Barack Obama have "repeatedly underestimated" America's enemies on the international stage.

"This administration, from Secretary Clinton to President Obama, has repeatedly underestimated the threats that are faced by America," Romney said. "It has repeatedly underestimated our adversaries. And whether that's Russia or [Syrian President Bashar] Assad or ISIS or al-Qaida itself, it has not taken the action necessary to prevent things from happening. We have not used our influence to do what's necessary to protect our interests."

Romney also blasted Clinton for comments she made during her recent book tour about the decision to release five Taliban prisoners in order to free U.S. soldier Bowe Bergdahl.

"She was asked whether the Bowe Bergdahl trade was one that presented a threat to the United States," Romney said. "And she came back with a clueless answer. She was clueless. She said, 'Look, these commandos don't represent a threat to the United States.' Well, of course they do. And then she went on to say, 'They only represent a threat to Afghanistan and Pakistan.' Are you kidding? I mean, we're in Afghanistan. And we're in Afghanistan in part to protect America's security."

To defeat Clinton in 2016, Romney said, the GOP "playbook, I believe, is to look at her record."

Still wondering why they drug him out to appear this particular weekend.

I’ll be McCain is off somewhere rolling his ball bearings because he got snubbed on a Sunday show where he actually had a history on the topic of Iraq withdrawal

Romeny needs to sit down and shut up. We don’t want what you are selling Slick Mitt. We didn’t want you in 2008 or 2012, so hell would freeze over and we’d still not want your a$$ in 2016.

There's much irony in that, but he means well.

Also, if you watch him on the shows he's pretty much ruled out another run for president.

Too little, two years too late

It might be fun if Romney were to ask Obama to step down and let Biden take over the WH. If the dems were smart, they'd realize it would help them come November.

A preview of the 2016 race. Romney vs Hillary.

This time, Romney will win. And he knows it. He's just been biding his time.

By the way, it's not my wish or desire that this be so. Just a reasoned observation. It is a mistake to count Romney out. Many of us conservatives see the world from a bubble but to the average American who does not live and breath politics, Romney ran a respectable campaign in 2012 and fell short to an entrenched incumbent.

I know people here won't appreciate hearing that but I'm concerned we have our heads in the sand. We are only two years from the conventions and no other serious contenders have emerged. If one does not emerge over the next few months, the GOP machinery will start to sputter with the Romney people pulling the controls.

It's too late at this point to start a third party movement that will have an impact in the 2016 cycle. The Tea Party appears determined to work within the established system and change the Republican Party from within. The Cantor defeat was nice but so much more needed to be done by this point.

"And we're in Afghanistan in part to protect America's security."

Yes there are a number of U.S. military currently stationed in Afghanistan. Other than that...the whole point is little weak.

I'm going to outright dismiss the initial reasons given for our troops being involved in operations in Afghanistan...I'm not buying the whole, "making the world safe for democracy" or "taking the fight to Al-Queda on their turf" or "liberating the people of Afghanistan" meme. Romney should either come clean or go home. The only American "interests" in Afghanistan center around multi-national corporations and their future interests in that country; and our military has been used as a corporate security force there.

Don't get me wrong; Hillary is clueless, and thugs should never be negotiated or bargained with (even for deserters)...but don't insult my intelligence by saying Americas security is being protected by us being there.

Why didn’t Romney blast Obama when he had the chance? Obama even offered a much bigger target, believe it or not. During his last debate with Obama, I kept looking at the clock, wondering when Romney would come alive. He never did.

Romney thought he could slide into home after his excellent first debate. But that turned out to be the only real highpoint for him in the entire general election campaign.

In 2016, it may yet be possible for the GOP to win the presidency, but I doubt it. The hard truth is that there are no longer enough White voters, and accordingly, the Electoral College is practically a Democrat lock.

Game over. Dead Country walking.

Romney’s smart but he let them call him a murderer on TV and didn’t fight back. Stephanie Cutter and Obama made a chump out of him - and it was disgusting to watch, because they were eventually caught in those lies about Bain Capital, and Romney should have shelled them.

I held my nose and voted Romeny but I will never vote for this RINO again. At this point we need to go third party as the Republicans do not want to be conservative.

Any and every republican has to not only overcome the democrat but also the media.

I wasn’t a big Mitt fan but he was better than the last few republican candidates — W and McLame. The republicans haven’t nominated a candidate that I was very excited about since Ronald Reagan. I loved Reagan.
