Russian influence operations in Washington, D.C. have not been affected by the weak sanctions imposed on some members of Vladimir Putins inner circle (but not Putin himself) in Moscow. The World Russia Forum will be held June 16th and 17th in the Hart Senate Office Building and features Sergei Kislyak, the Russian Ambassador to Washington; James Carden, Contributing Editor of Pat Buchanans The American Conservative magazine; and Mark Ritchie, the Secretary of State of Minnesota.
Analyst Trevor Loudon has described Ritchie as the Secret Communist Party Friend Who Gave Al Franken His Senate Seat. He notes, One of the Senates most radical members, Minnesotas Al Franken, won his seat after a highly controversial re-count, supervised by Minnesota Secretary of State Mark Ritchie. Franken is up for re-election this year.
Loudon has published confidential documents showing Ritchie attended and addressed a Communist Party meeting, and was described in a written report on the meeting as a non-party friend. The report was marked not for publication.
Ritchie won his own office after the Democracy Alliance, a leftist group funded by George Soros, among others, launched a Secretary of State project to capture the secretary of state offices in 11 of 13 critical states.
Although Putin continues to destabilize Ukraine, the theme of the upcoming Washington, D.C. conference is, Towards Constructive Agenda for U.S. Russia Relations. It says the current policy of threatening and implementing sanctions will not achieve its ultimate results but most likely will be no less damaging to the Western geopolitical, security and economic interests.
In short, the U.S. ought to accommodate Russias interests and forget about freedom and independence for Ukraine.

It dawned on me today that if there is unrest in the Middle East, the Russians benefit from the sudden spike in oil prices.
We are. The US financed the "less radical" crazies who replaced the original protestors in Syria. There's suspicion that what was going on from Benghazi was weapons to Syria's anti-Assad fighters. ISIS came out of Syria and now has hundreds of millions of dollars they took from an Iraqi bank....plus all of those weapons the Iraqi army left behind.
The US armed both sides, is still trying to topple Assad, and only Iran is there to try to defuse the mess. And Kiev is still "kicking the bear" and risking disruption of oil and gas from Russia. Add to that, if the Kurds are smart (and they aren't dumb) they might try to form a nation out of Kurdish areas in Iraq, Turkey and Syria.
You can't make this stuff up.
“It dawned on me today that if there is unrest in the Middle East, the Russians benefit from the sudden spike in oil prices.”
Not that much, the Russians are not a large exporter anymore. It just drives up their domestic prices, so it’s like a tax increase there...but not much more.
You are correct, but there is a bigger angle here than just making money from oil. Russia and China are our enemies, and there is a reason why Communist groups in the USA and around the world fully support their actions, and why Russia, in turn, is aiding and abetting not just Communist countries and groups around the world, but also Islamist states like Iran.
This is still a cold war. Russia and its allies are still plotting our demise. We must prepare for the fight to come, or we will one day be mostly dead, and what is left of us, slaves.
