SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Spurs won their fifth NBA championship, beating the Miami Heat 104-87 on Sunday night to win the series in five games.

Kawhi Leonard had 22 points and 10 rebounds for the Spurs, who added this title to the ones they won in 1999, 2003, '05 and '07. They nearly had another last year, but couldn't hold off the Heat and lost in seven games.

The rematch was no match at all.

San Antonio rebounded from an early 16-point deficit by outscoring the Heat 37-13 from the start of the second quarter to midway in the third.

I’m not a Heat fan, but their fans are generally well behaved, unlike those in more “sophisticated” cites, like Boston, Philadelphia, Seattle, etc....I doubt you’ see buildings trashed or cars burned in Miami tonight.

The only thing that would make this sweeter would be if La Bran James sustained a career ending injury that somehow bankrupted him as well.

Will Carmelo Anthony sign with the Heat?

If so, this could be a short-lived defense for the Spurs title....

You may have noticed that in many cities the fans of losing teams take out their frustrations on other peoples’ property.

On the Southwest Side of town near South Park Mall, Spurs fans are celebrating their fifth title with their automobiles.

Fans leaving restaurants at S.W. Military and Interstate 35 are waving flags, honking horns and cheering with passersby. Fans on motorcycles are even adding some noise to the celebration.

People are also standing on the side of the road encouraging 18-wheelers to honk their horns.

Truck beds filled with spurs fans are on the road, and some are even firing fireworks into the night sky.

That was horrible and you should be embarrassed. He is an athlete, not a mass murderer. I hope your kids do not see that comment.

No rioting. This is Texas, not a northern state. Local news showing tons and tons of crowds.

Spurs didn’t just beat Miami, they demolished them - three games in a row.

And everyone was cheering for them - why?

“Not one, not two, not three ....” Yeah, that arrogance.
