She got control of him, then cut off his food and water, didn’t she? Seemed to be doing much better when his wife was keeping him away from his children.

>> His death comes days after a judge allowed the star's daughter Kerri to withhold food, liquid and medication from her father against the wishes of his wife of 34 years, Jean.

I couldn't withhold these things for any loved one of my family. I was ask to do this in the family and I wouldn't go along with quite a few. The family member lived months on his own -he went naturally in this case.

The most famous Moslem in the US for decades (or are Druze not considered Moslems?)

No mention of the fact that Casey Kasem’s daughter, Kerri Kasem had all life support—all food, water and medicine—removed by court order. That is why he is dead.

Casey didn’t die because of the withholding of nutrition. He died of sepsis caused by infected bed sores.

How long do you think he could last once fluids were cut off?

Terry Schiavo lasted two weeks, but she was physically pretty healthy to start. As poor as Casey’s health was I wouldn’t expect him to last more than a few days.

And that’s about how long he lasted after his daughter cut off his food and water. It would have been kinder to have taken him to Holland to be put down rather than brutalizing his last days.

Have you ever seen a really sick person die? They are not simply awake and coherent one day and dead the next. Usually for several days they are in and out of consciousness, mostly out. In the days before they die, they are unaware of anything and anyone. Their breathing and heart rate slows gradually until they finally die. With holding nutrition is not cruel as they would not eat even if they were able and extending their life at this stage is not being compassionate. My dad had to make that decision for my mother and my siblings and I had to make that decision for him. When my time comes, I hope my loved ones allow me to pass and do not try to keep me alive in the vain hope that they can extend my life a day or two.
