WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House is considering sending a small number of American special forces soldiers to Iraq in an urgent attempt to help the government in Baghdad slow the nation's rampant Sunni insurgency, U.S. officials said Monday.

While President Barack Obama has explicitly ruled out putting U.S. troops into direct combat in Iraq, the plan under consideration suggests he would be willing to send Americans into a collapsing security situation for training and other purposes

obozo wouldn’t understand you.

“tip of the spear” means something very different to the queer-in-chief.

Folks, why do we have drones if they can’t kick the tar out of this ISIS movement? Where are they? We should have some in the region, and their range is supposed to be advanced.

Why not dump some ordinance on some of those convoys?

Oooh, it’s the nefarious “other purposes” clause. WTF is this C-H-A-O-S speak?

Do our people have legal immunity? If not stay-the-F-out of it.

Special Forces are the tip of the spear, but they need the whole spear behind them to effective. Even my 6 year old knows that.

Well, just because 6 year olds know better doesn't necessarily mean Barry "marine corpse, never leave a deserter behind, all this for a flag" Obama does also.

This is topical.

“The forces in Mosul were supposedly “trained” and abandoned their posts so quickly that the French are envious.”

From what I’ve read commissions were granted through politics and favoritism, not merit. Lacking merit the officers fled at the first sign of the enemy. No officers = dysfunctional units without support. Only a fool would stay behind when their Command and Control as well as their support had abandoned them. They were fixed-in-place and blind, without leadership waiting to be cutoff and killed. But some stayed and fought anyways. And God bless them for that. They died in the service of their country, not their leaders or politicians.

This is a huge indictment on the IA leadership. Heads should roll literally for this. The government now sees first hand the cost of permitting the politicization of the military.

Cool off, everyone, by special forces he just means that he and Joe Biden are making the trip themselves and will clean things up with their single shot shotguns.

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I might wonder if he is deliberately trying to get rid of our best and brightest highly skilled forces.

Can’t have them here at home to pose any threats of local insurgency, after all.

Good thing I am not suspicious of his motives, right?

Oh great .. lets just waste the rest of our best and brightest for another Obama folly.

We already know Obama is terrified of these super soldiers.

“The president was very clear that we will not be sending U.S. troops back into combat in Iraq,” Hayden said in a statement. “That remains the case and he has asked his national security team to prepare a range of other options that could help support Iraqi security forces.”

So special ops units are not troops. Sounds logical-NOT.

Is ISIS the same folks we armed in Syria?

With all the scandals, failures, and dithering of the POTUS, its hard to keep up.

He’ll probably write ‘Yes’ and ‘No’ on a couple of golf balls and draw them out of a hat while waiting to start the next round. Or he’ll just defer to Valerie.
