Texas Governor Rick Perry has again made headlines for the wrong reasons when, speaking at the Commonwealth Club of California last week, he likened homosexuality to alcoholism. "Whether or not you feel compelled to follow a particular lifestyle or not, you have the ability to decide not to do that," he said. "I may have the genetic coding that I'm inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way."
Gay-rights groups reacted per usual. "Although he may not have the 'genetic coding' to think before he speaks, Rick Perry, M.D. should have a real conversation with actual doctors before voicing his expertise on these issues,” said Fred Sainz of the Human Rights Campaign.
But here's a thought: What if Rick Perry was right?
I'm not saying that Perry is right. I'm saying that it's time for the LGBT community to start moving beyond genetic predisposition as a tool for gaining mainstream acceptance of gay rights.
For decades now, it's been the most powerful argument in the LGBT arsenal: that we were “born this way.” Certainly there's evidence that the argument has played an important role in the shifting of attitudes towards the LGBT community. And the evidence for genetic predisposition is overwhelming. If scientists choose to be skeptical about one argument in favor of predisposition, they have several other arguments to fall back on: Studies of congenital adrenal hyperplasia and other conditions suggesting increased levels of testosterone in the pre-birth hormones of lesbian and bisexual women.

Sad ending to a magnificent legacy . . .
Now, its mission statement reads “standing athwart history and . . . . [fill in the blank].”
“And the evidence for genetic predisposition is overwhelming.”
Funny, why haven’t the gays shown that overwhelming evidence to scientists then?
ANd no doubt that in the 20% of the cases, the only reason both were gay was because the one twin influenced the other to become gay; otherwise, we’d see the usual 1-2% homosexuals in the twin population.
How would a gay gene be passed on?
The 20 percent can no doubt be explained by addressing environmental and psychological factors having to do with being raised in the same home. But the 80 percent clearly negates the genetic theory.
I permanently confuse the two magazines. Back in the day I subscribed to both. I really miss the Buckley’s Review.
Okie logic alert: If Sodomites are born that way, why were there zero in my high school? They were latent homos, suppressing their true inclinations to the detriment of their mental health? Okay, so now that they’re out with it, they’re happy and stable?
The homosexualists know that their lives are a choice and have known since they started their protests years ago and proclaimed that they should not be discriminated against based on their sexual ...wait for it...PREFERENCE.
Now they fear that designation because a choice implies the potential for a cure or prevention, and that means that the presence of self-proclaimed homosexuals in the population would be reduced dramatically.
I wonder if it is legal if you say “I think you are a perv” while you bake and deliver the wedding cake? Or do you not even get the freedom to SAY that? Or to think that? How intrusive is this law that the Marxists-in-Charge seem to think is Law of the Land? What are the penalties for ignoring it? Would the Supremes really hold you guilty, if it went to the top?
Yes we do: "Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death." James 1:15.
The cause is lust; Dreaming and fantasizing over ones own desires rather than obeying the will of God. The result is sin and ultimately eternal death in Hell.
Even though this sin is marked out in the Bible, that no Homosexual will enter the Kingdom of Heaven - any sin will keep one from going to heaven.
That is why Christ's coming is such good news. It is that anyone who truly believes upon His death on the cross (for all his sins), calling Him Lord, is saved from Hell and has life abundantly forever (both now and in heaven).
Even the sin of Homosexuality is forgiven, if one turns away (Repents from it completely), Believes upon the Saviors death in their place, makes Him Lord and turns and follows Him.
There is no sin that cannot be forgiven save one: That is not believing upon what Christ has done for sin.
Yes, what causes Homosexuality or any other sin is known and the good news of Christ is known as well.

Most families have someone in their midst who is gay. We do. We love that person and I certainly believe they were born that way and did not wake up one day and decide to be gay.
That being said the gay lifestyle is a difficult life to lead and as much as the progressives have fought for gay marriage etc it still is considered by most to be an abnormal lifestyle and is not really socially acceptable. Choosing not to engage in it might be a wise choice. Rick Perry has a good point.
What are the consequences of identifying as H . . . or banging the whole football team? Can you run from the internal guilt and shame? Will you be able to overcome the obvious health risks? Just what kind of benefits will this lifestyle bring? Will you be disappointed and/or isolated from those you love? What's next? What about 10 or 20 years down the road?
I don't ever intend to hurt or embarrass a H. I would appreciate the respect of the culture to allow me to quietly keep my distance because I am vastly different from the H community. But I actually feel sorry for the young, impressionable people who, as history proves, are being set up for a great deal of heartache, guilt and difficulty. I have never been approached for advice about it, but I think I would raise many of the questions mentioned above to them. Our depraved culture has a long history of selling snake oil to people who are not well grounded in their values. Such licentious behavior usually comes with a very high price tag . . . eventually . . . in this life AND afterward.
...For good reason: It was conducted by a homosexual using typical leftist science, determining the outcome regardless what the research revealed.
It's even worse now.

Why didn’t homosexuals drop the ‘born that way’ crud when that came out, since it was no longer believable.
