Iraq's biggest oil refinery, Baiji, has been shut down and its foreign staff evacuated, refinery officials said on Tuesday, adding that local staff remain in place and the military is still in control of the facility
Due to the recent attacks of militants by mortars, the refinery administration decided to evacuate foreign workers for their safety and also to completely shut down production units to avoid extensive damage that could result," a chief engineer at the refinery said on condition of anonymity.

It’s gonna be a loooong, hot summer.....................
Bush tried and tried to get an agreement to leave a group behind. It would have happened had we had a different President taking over the ship.
Obama was just adamant about getting our guys out of there.
His little play is just so we're really, really aware that we're protecting the dudes at our Embassy....not like Benghazi...except we should have told them all to leave a month ago.
Massacres of oil field workers go all the way back to...Stalin in Azerbaijan...some interesting history at:
I remember during Obama’s 1st campaign he even met with Iraq leaders in an effort to convince them to postpone the timeline deal for withdrawal until after he was elected so he could take full credit. Then he discovered that the masses will believe his lies.
$150 crude, here we come !
($5 gasoline, thanks, Obumma.)
What we need is cap and trade and more regulations from EPA and all will be well./s
That means anyone with any technical know-how is gone, and all that's left are the janitors and food-service personnel.
Oh, and apparently Deputy Achmed Fife is still there, too....
I wonder if they had an orderly shutdown sequence at the refinery or everybody run like hell?
"It's not something we're publicizing very much, for obvious reasons," explains Dori Salcido, assistant DHS secretary for public affairs. "But under the law we are well within our rights to offer this service, and we think it's good public policy.
"How are people supposed to get to the doctor's office if they don't have gas in their cars? Health insurance is worthless if you can't make your appointment. This is just another fine example of government stepping in and solving big problems."
Although some developing oil-rich nations like Venezuela and Indonesia subsidize gasoline for the poor, the practice has never before been tried in the United States. The plans are proving controversial with some taxpayers who are loathe to see their money go to subsidize others.
"So basically I'm being punished for not living in the ghetto," says Colin Blair, a white person from the affluent Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills. "I have three kids and a mortgage. Life isn't cheap for me either. I could use some free gasoline too."
An investigation into the station's operations, however, reveals that Blair is unlikely to be able to use the service."Supposedly access to the station is determined by income," says Ebony Jackson, manager of the first Obama station. "But it's pretty unrealistic to do an income check on each and every driver. So what we do is basically let all the black people pump for free, and charge all the white people the market rate."
The Obama stations scandal was uncovered by Nolan Finley , a conservative Detroit News columnist widely lauded for his groundbreaking exposé on Obama phones. Finley says the blatant racial bias in the program is only one of its many outrageous aspects. "The stations have Obama campaign logo on them and giant photos of the president," he explains. "He's trying to buy votes ahead of the midterm elections. This is something you normally only see in third world countries. I've never been more scared for our democracy.
"Snopes Say's this is true.....Send this along to all your friends. We need to get this guy out of office before he destroys what's left of this wonderful country.......
I just googled Obama gas stations.
There are already pictures up.
Looks like Venezuela.
So, some urban brood sow pulls up to the pump in her Escalade and fills it up on MY dollars!.................
Is that satire?
Yeah, if someone has the nerve to go into a really bad neighborhood and get free gas it might be worth it.
Don’t know if it is or not. With the boot-licking media, who is to know? I don’t live around a bunch of blacks. Thanks to God!
