Blowback! U.S. trained ISIS at secret Jordan base

JERUSALEM – Members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS, were trained in 2012 by U.S. instructors working at a secret base in Jordan, according to informed Jordanian officials.

The officials said dozens of ISIS members were trained at the time as part of covert aid to the insurgents targeting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. The officials said the training was not meant to be used for any future campaign in Iraq.

The Jordanian officials said all ISIS members who received U.S. training to fight in Syria were first vetted for any links to extremist groups like al-Qaida.

Look, in many ways I agree with what you are saying, bet we have to be careful here too.

Yes we did help Hussein to a certain extent. We helped just enough so that Iran and Iraq could take each other out. Frankly, it was effective. Upwards of half a million people died in that war, and that was the focus of those two nations for the better part of a decade, just before, during, and after.

It is also true we helped train the underground in Afghanistan too. And some of those people turned out against us also. At the time, under the circumstances, that was reasoned.

What is different today, is that we are training people who not only turned against us more than a decade ago, we are funding them, and arming them.

While one type of activity described above is academically arguable with good points on each side, the other is clearly and completely traitorous.

This is a whole new ball game. Obama is effectively a part of their organizations, either wittingly, or by plan. And Congress sits by idly as he commits this treason.

Is there any good man who will stand up and out this for what it is?

I certainly didn’t read every article or make any detailed study of what was going on in Syria during all the fighting. I never had a clear picture of who the various ‘rebel’ groups were, only that some were obviously very brutal and others maybe less so.

But now this article clearly says that US personnel were training some of the worst (ISIS) at several different locations. Now some of the trained terrorists are part of the attack on Iraq.

So, again we are left with the question: are Obama and his flunkies that inept and incompetent, or did they intentionally provide aide to terrorists they knew would be used against Iraq?

Problem was their leadership.
The soldiers were Shia. The officers were Sunni and likely defected to or collaborated with ISIS, which is also Sunni.

Who could be surprised by this. We all knew that Obama has and continues to take the side of the rebel forces in the war in Syria. We all knew that this was a dangerous mix of terrorist groups and, I assume, a few real freedom fighters.

So what’s changed? Nothing. We still support the rebel forces in Syria which apparently include ISIS.

One might ask: Who’s side are we on? (Referring, of course, to that greater WE that we call Obama.)

I will answer: Whatever side the Sunnis are on. Birds of a feather, brotherhood, family ties. These all run deep.
