A House committee probing the IRS targeting scandal has subpoenaed Commissioner John Koskinen to testify over the agency’s claims it cannot locate a trove of emails belonging to Lois Lerner, the former agency official at the heart of the scandal.
The IRS outraged congressional investigators Friday by saying it cannot find many of Lerner's emails prior to 2011 because her computer crashed during the summer of that year.
Lerner headed the IRS division that processed applications for tax-exempt status. The IRS acknowledged last year that agents had improperly scrutinized applications for tax-exempt status by Tea Party and other conservative groups.
Rep. Darrell Issa, the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said he is feels the lost email claims are another example of the IRS’ “repeated empty promises of compliance with oversight.”
“I will not tolerate your continued obstruction and game-playing in response to the Committee’s investigation of the IRS targeting,” Issa, R-Calif., said in a letter accompanying the subpoena. “For too long, the IRS has promised to produce requested – and, later, subpoenaed – documents, only to respond later with excuses and inaction.”
Issa subpoenaed Koskinen to appear at a hearing on June 23.

And no matter how you cut it, Obama himself must be implicated in those emails.
And there is only one reason for targeting these folks....it takes away money from Obama's opponent.

This needs to be A LOT more aggressive than mere subpoenas. There needs to be seizure of entire banks of records and databases, NOW! There needs to be summary arrests of complicit suspects. There needs to be a fast-track investigation before all this high treason and unbelievable corruption “goes away.”
Must be time to just ignore the subpoenas. Wait, they’ve already done that a couple of times.

I am surprised the date was not NEXT June! Just to give the IRS and Holder’s Just Us Department time to develop an excuse.

Absolutely. It was damning, so it’s gone.
AMP IT UP ISSA. Subpoena the IT people and/or contractors responsible for hardware maintenance. Subpoena the Disaster Recovery team and their written plan. And put Lerner in jail.

The emails are not lost. They are being withheld. Every time we acknowledge the premise that they are lost, we allow the perpetrators to define a false narrative which allows them to continue withholding the emails.

I agree.
The IRS has demonstrated obstruction of justice and there is a high likelihood that they are engaging in the destruction of evidence.
Either
1) the emails exist on another storage medium, or
2) all the evidence has been purged by a team of professionals, or
3) they are in the process of destroying evidence.
Considering the level of effort that was used to clean Obama’s history (including kindergarden information), all three are very possible.
Issa needs a judicial order to seize and seal all potential storage sites. And it needs to be done NOW.
