The Collapsing Obama Doctrine
Wall Street Journal ^ | 6/17/14 | Dick and Liz Cheney

Posted on 06/17/2014 4:53:18 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Edited on 06/17/2014 8:01:00 PM PDT by Jim Robinson. [history]

Cheney re Obama: Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many.

As the terrorists of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) threaten Baghdad, thousands of slaughtered Iraqis in their wake, it is worth recalling a few of President Obama's past statements about ISIS and al Qaeda. "If a J.V. team puts on Lakers' uniforms that doesn't make them Kobe Bryant" (January 2014). "[C]ore al Qaeda is on its heels, has been decimated" (August 2013). "So, let there be no doubt: The tide of war is receding" (September 2011).

Rarely has a U.S. president been so wrong about so much at the expense of so many. Too many times to count, Mr. Obama has told us he is "ending" the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan—as though wishing made it so. His rhetoric has now come crashing into reality. Watching the black-clad ISIS jihadists take territory once secured by American blood is final proof, if any were needed, that America's enemies are not "decimated." They are emboldened and on the march.

Obama is the biggest joke to occupy the Oval Office. An utter and complete detriment to all that is noble and worthy.

God bless Dick Cheney

I understand he's not the most popular political figure in the country, but Bush isn't winning any style points or doing the country any favors by being a gentleman and keeping his mouth shut. Its crunch time.

Drawing an arc with his finger from Raqqa province in northern Syria to Anbar province in western Iraq, he said, "They will control this territory. Al Qaeda is building safe havens and training camps here. Don't the Americans care?"

Nope. Americans are more concerned about their free abortions, free birth control, homosexual marriage, and other government freebies than they are about finishing off some terrorist network.

Gee, there are 5,000-6,000 State Department weenies at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. How about thinking of them as hostages? Barack’s going to pull off a loss of Iraq that makes Jimmy Carter's loss of Iran look like child's play. I wonder how the Media will blame this on Bush?

Skeeter, I agree with that to a certain extent. I will have to tell you it sounds somewhat like “It’s Bush’s fault!” when I read it though.

Should Bush be speaking up? I believe so. If he does it all the time, it really does open the door to past presidents simply neutering good presidents when they come along.

Look at what McCain did to Bush first term. It was just plain lunacy, and I’m not a big Bush fan by any means.

A president has to be given space. This one has had his space, and it is time for someone of stature to explain what they see as potential treason. Perhaps Bush is the guy to deliver that.

The problem once again, is that then the Democrats scream treason every time future good presidents go to the restroom.

Honestly, I don’t know what the answer to this is.

Obama is so far out of bounds these days, someone on the Left must have noticed. In the best case, leading Democrats would out this guy for what he is.

Evidently those days are gone. Goldwater refused to support Nixon and he was done. Now we can’t even get treason addressed by the Democrat counterpart to Goldwater.

Sad really...

"Obama has a doctrine? Phhhttt"

Obama DOES have a doctrine: If you like me, assume the position. If you don't like me, assume the position.

Of course, "assume the position" has a different meaning in the two contexts.

If it’s done, it essentially needs to read like an indictment. As many as possible counts need to be documented and nailed.

Individual actions and their ramifications need to be addressed.

One more problem with Bush doing something like this, is that if you do it, you have to go for the family jewels. No pussy-footing around will do.

I’m not sure the guy has that in him. And if he doesn’t, at some point he backs down and Obama looks immaculate for the duration of his life.

Well, I do keep making the same mistake of assuming that key republicans don't identify more closely with the ruling elite of the other party than they do with common Americans most impacted by their policies.

But I have to guess that Bush has really strong feelings about what he sees Obama doing with what he and the US military accomplished in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe not.

“American freedom will not be secured by empty threats, meaningless red lines, leading from behind, appeasing our enemies, abandoning our allies, or apologizing for our great nation—all hallmarks to date of the Obama doctrine.”

Indeed, an epic and very dangerous failure.

The 0bama Doctrine:
Undermine and Sabotage America to reduce the nation to an ordinary country, no better than any other.
From what I see it's working pretty well.

Despite Bush’s note being correct within context, and Obama’s being a crafted lie - even to the extent of trying to obscure an attack on a US mission resulting in the murder of an Ambassador.

Dick Cheney has no credibility on this issue. His own boss was so thoroughly discredited on these stupid military campaigns by 2008 that the people of this country elected a Kenyan exchange student to replace him.

I wish all of these big-government globalists would get the hell out of the public eye for good.

The Obama Doctrine is to facilitate the creation of the revived Islamic Caliphate, using the resources of the American government which he leads.

Everything he has done since 1/20/2009 has fit a pattern of enabling radical Islam to gain power, prestige and territory, all under the guise of fighting the War on Terror.

The only terrorists he sees is people like us, that love this country and that are wise to him and his ilk.

He has proven his traitorous intent toward this nation. The “trade” of the five Taliban prisoners was another prime example of his perfidy.

For ISIS to have this kind of success is only because he will refuse to fight them. Because he wants them to succeed.

At the very least we should be bombing the convoys of our former equipment that ISIS is spiriting away to Syria. But hey, why do that when he wanted to arm the rebels fighting Assad anyway. Now ISI has hundreds of billions of dollars in cash and gold, trucks, Humvees, ammo, weapons, and tanks that can used for Al Qaeda.

He folded on Syria, he folded on Iran, and he will do nothing about ISIS. All part of the plan.

When are people going to wake up?

Great summation, not that it was anything we didn't already know, but the great 48(percent) will not read it or, if they do, comprehend it. Idealism and stupidity runs deep in this regime. When it comes to Obama, I am feeling like I am dealing with the drug addled friends that I ran with in the 60s/70s that never grew up. He has no clue.

I beg to differ with so many folks that think he is smart, he is far from smart, as I am sure his handlers have found out.

Dear libtards. We are conservatives. We don’t hate Obama because he is black. We don’t CARE what color he is. The only thing that matters is that he hates this country and is trying to destroy it in his image.

We hate him for that. And we hate you for giving him the power to do it. I can’t speak for every conservative, but that’s the way this one sees it. PERIOD

Because that's what happens when a radical Muslim is disguise is "elected" POTUS.

This is good:

“In one Arab capital, a senior official pulled out a map of Syria and Iraq. Drawing an arc with his finger from Raqqa province in northern Syria to Anbar province in western Iraq, he said, “They will control this territory. Al Qaeda is building safe havens and training camps here. Don’t the Americans care?”

“Our president doesn’t seem to. Iraq is at risk of falling to a radical Islamic terror group and Mr. Obama is talking climate change. Terrorists take control of more territory and resources than ever before in history, and he goes golfing.
