IRS Head Koskinen Lied About 'Lost' Lerner Emails
Investor's Business Daily ^ | June 17, 2014 | IBD EDITORIALS

Scandal: In testimony last March, the IRS chief told Congress that the now-allegedly irretrievable emails were not immediately available because they were safely stored offline. Maybe the NSA can help find them?

Rep. Darrell Issa's House Oversight Committee has subpoenaed IRS Commissioner John Koskinen to testify June 23 about Lois Lerner's suddenly lost emails. One of the topics is expected to be his prior contradictory congressional testimony.

Koskinen testified about the emails at an Oversight hearing in March and, as investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson notes, gave quite the opposite impression from the current storyline that has every computer nerd in America rolling on the floor laughing.

Koskinen said the reason that requested emails were difficult to provide was that IRS emails "get taken off and stored in servers." He failed to mention any Lerner hard-drive crash that allegedly occurred long before, only to be divulged in this administration's habitual Friday data dump of unpleasant news.

Was he lying then or is he lying now? Federal law requires that such records be archived and accessible — particularly records subject to congressional investigation — and that the destruction or loss of any such records be authorized according to the law and reported to the archivist of such records. Someone is either lying or has broken the law big time, or both.

Jail will work wonders in getting him to come clean.

Obstruction of justice. No big deal to that committee.
Expecially EXEMPT Cummings and the EXEMPT DNC.

Misprision of felony.
All on the EXEMPT Issa Committee are guilty.

American depended on them.
Deaths have come from the Mexican border through America
to Iraq, and STILL they do nothing.

These SOB's think they are immune as long as the communists control DOJ, and that the Right won't have the stones to come after them after 2016.

They are badly mistaken.

Please provide some historical evidence to back that up.

I think he can get out of this without proving he lied. He can claim he was uninformed.

There is none

But this is so beyond the pale that the next GOP POTUS, which is probably Cruz, won't have a choice but to make an example of these clowns.

He's not afraid to do what must be done.

Jail will work wonders in getting him to come clean.

You got that exactly right.

However, for some reason or another in ANY of these scandals have we seen ANYONE indicted or incarcerated as of yet.

From where I'm seated it looks a lot like Wash D.C.'s version of KABUKI theater.

"Jail will work wonders in getting him to come clean."

These are Mob connected, out-of-control monsters. Do you see Ex-Guv Blagojevich finding the Truth?

These people KNOW that they and their families will have an accident, like acid in their children's faces, if they get careless.

Think 'Fort Marcy Park...'

Yes, they lied. They know that the current ‘justice’ department is corrupt and will never prosecute them.

"They know that the current ‘justice’ department is corrupt and will never prosecute them."

Or the next. When has ANY DoJ prosecuted ANYONE from a previous administration?

Koskinen is not a politician so he may be easier to crack.

Making minor adjustments to the IRS budget as some in the House are trying to do won’t affect them. Senate democrats will restore them and I doubt the House GOP is ballsy enough to face a government shutdown to keep the cuts. A better plan is to put the head of the IRS and Louis Lerner in the House jail until he produces the emails and she testifies.

Someone is either lying or has broken the law big time, or both.

At this point it's unmistakably both. The law is very clear on this, and every federal (and state) employee is briefed in detail on it. If Lerner didn't provide her emails to the archivist in one form or another, she should go to prison.

There is a breaking point.

The tradition is to leave past Administrations alone.

Current Events "DICTATE" otherwise.

Perhaps we could plant a rifle in the trunk of his car and entice him to visit Tijuana.
