From the 2008 debate, Thompson clearly shuts down Rudy Giuliani's (so familiar) arguments, pay a fine, back of the line, etc.

“Its not a crime if they pay back taxes or pay a fine. I am against amnesty but for immigration reform. It will increase our GDP and create millions of new jobs. Immigrants made this country great.”

NO.
Illegals broke into our country.
They can go back home.
Want to stop the flood of illegals? Easy. Send these people home and allow in 20 million people who really did stand in line.
SWITCH the friggin incentives...

Immigrants made this country great. The people breaking into our country aren't 'immigrants' they're 'illegals'.
"A happy home welcomes guests... " True, but a thief's NOT a guest anymore than 'illegals' are immigrants...

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.
If a burglar breaks into your house, would you feed him, send him to college and pay his tuition, and allow him to stay in your house permanently?
But that is exactly what the amnesty crowd wants to do and that includes the first amnesty president, Ronald Reagan.

While I would still disagree w/Fred, I’d have more respect for him, and other politicians, if they would call the ILLEGAL immigrants, ILLEGAL immigrants, or ILLEGALS.

"Don't deport my mom"
Oh, okay.
We can just stop mammograms and colonoscopies for MY mom so you and your mom can come here and suck welfare benefits from our system.
BTW MY mom paid into the system for decades. What are you bringing to the table?

I dont like E-Verify. It is more burden on businesses because the govt wont do its job but....
If people were adamant about only doing business with companies who E-Verify, the illegal aliens would start to self-deport if there were no jobs.
I would start with landscape and home improvement companies.

Maybe when they grow up they will support her by paying her medicare and social security by doing my landscaping and painting.
After all, American kids (young adults) will still be unemployed and living with parents.

Fred Thompson towers above the other clowns that we have had running for President. But the voters prefer Hucksters and Obamas.

When he flips that dime to the newspaper guy, I have to laugh at what age he seems to live in.
Newspapers cost $1 or more these days...
