Skip to comments.Jeb Bush for Veep?

Speculation among Republican strategists is that Bush wont run for president in 2016, but might be willing to be a strong conservatives running mate.
Even before Eric Cantors seismic loss to a political novice backed by the tea party last week, many Republican elders had concluded that Jeb Bush, who really wants to become the third President Bush, wont run in 2016.
The emerging consensus explains why some of these party mandarins have launched a new political boomlet touting the ex-Florida governor: Jeb for Veep.
At first the notion seems a little weird. While a reliable ideological conservative, Bush is a dreaded mainstream Republican. Worse yet for many on the Right, hes a fervent booster of comprehensive immigration reform. That provokes apoplexy among many tea-party faithful and other GOP conservatives.
With Cantors defeat blamed in part on his apparent willingness to entertain a middle ground on immigration, Bush as second banana on a ticket headed by a more conservative Republican would seem to be a nonstarter.
Not so fast, some GOP heavy-hitters maintain.
Jeb would be perfectly acceptable to the base if the nominee is a proven conservative, said a prominent Republican consultant.

All Bushes for has-beens. We need Conservatives. No more GOPe & RINOs.
No. No. No.
He should be dead to every single pro lifer. Never forget Terri Schiavo.
No More Bushes!
The sooner we stick to ‘NO!” with the exclamation point, the sooner we can get conservatives into power.
“’Jeb would be perfectly acceptable to the base if the nominee is a proven conservative,’...”
According to whom?
No G-D Dammit, NO No No....
The only bad thing about Reagan was that he ended up having to pair up with Mr. Thousand Points of Light NWO HW Bush the Weakling Wimp epitome of the Rockefeller Republican Checked Pants moron GOPe jackwad establishment...
That’s the worst part of Reagans legacy. He took on a Bush and it wound up undoing everything he did. I swear by all that’s holy, I will not vote for another Bush.
Why would a strong conservative want a VP who is Democrat in Republican clothing?
Just read the number of posts that said ‘NO’ in this thread:
Interesting trial balloon. Note that the week after the weasel’s loss, the crony capitalists are talking another Bush for VP. I guess they’ve gotten the message that they aren’t likely to get the top slot, so they’re triangulating.
Exactly. A trial balloon. The GOP-e just don’t get it.
Sure to sink any conservative candidate's campaign lower than whale guano (and that's pretty low!!)
I think the “conservative” they’re suggesting is Mitt Romney, the severely severe conservative. Romney-Bush 2016. Barf!
Jeb is conservative?
Oh I think the uniparty pukes get it just fine. They’re just trying to pull out a win. They’re playing for the long term.
If you're talking about something else, I don't think so. The Republican advantage next time is going to be that they aren't the same old same old thing as usual. Nominate a Bush and you lose that.
Jebbie’s wife is 100% Mexican and he has such a soft spot for Mexicans that VP in Mexico is a good spot for him.
Let him convince Mexico they should provide amnesty for all the illegals coming over their southern border.
we do not need ‘kinder , gentler ‘ America again
we need tougher , harder , smarter , and damn dedicated to defeating the worldwide threat of radical islam
Jeb Bush for VP on the dimrat ticket.
Other than that. No sir.
Jeb is the media’s choice. They love a slam dunk win for the democrats.
Jeb’s wife falsifies customs declarations and doesn’t like to pay customs duties, too
Bush Embarrassed By Wife’s Run-in With Customs (1999 Columba Bush Flashback)
Now why in the world would a strong Conservative want a weak democrat as his running mate?
What the freakign hell is wrong with the GOP????
They’re like “How about Jeb Bush for President”
Them: “Well how about Jeb Bush?”
Them: “Jeb Bush?”
Them: “then maybe Jeb Bush?”
Them: “ok ok ok well what about Jeb Bush?”
Just say NO............
Not another Bush relative for at least a hundred years.
Other than possibly helping to carry Florida, it's hard to see how Jeb could help. But with his surname he could probably lead people to vote against the ticket.

If Jeb becomes VP will another son of a Bush family friend, business partner, and campaign contributor try to assassinate the President?
I don’t want Jeb in Washington for the same reason I don’t want weasels in my henhouse. No good can come of it.
Why Jeb for Veep? What constituency would he bring?
I’m more afraid of the more likely Deval Patrick for Veep—of the other team. Hillary/Deval — Woman + Black—that’s their dream team.
—> Jeb would be perfectly acceptable to the base if the nominee is a proven conservative, said a prominent Republican consultant.
Only a brain-dead republican would support the Jebster.
The base would stay home as they did with Mittens who had no core beliefs. Yeah, try that again. They are like drug addicts to power/ won’t come to reality to understand that the base doesn’t trust them any longer. Most of their base would like to kick these creeps to the curb :)
