CNN’s New Programming Met With Resistance from Ad Buyers (The HORROR!)
Variety ^ | 6-18-14 | Brian Steinberg

The seeming standoff comes as CNN has been under more scrutiny in the past year. While CNN remains a go-to venue when big breaking news takes place, the network has found keeping viewers riveted to its screen a tougher task as competing news outlets have staked out new turf. Fox News Channel regularly wins more viewers than CNN. MSNBC provides competition as well. In the past year, new entrants have tested the waters. Al Jazeera America, while not generating big viewership, has bountiful cash reserves and a hard-news focus. Fusion, a new network backed by ABC and Univision, is experimenting with ways to reach Hispanic and millennial viewers.

Well, they probably don’t. I assume they get a hefty check from the collectivists for all that propaganda, like Pravda or Tass.

Al Jazeera has a hard-news focus. As in it’s hard to read their news with a straight face.

Well, they could try out Matthew Lesko. He could anchor his own four-hour show each day. "How to get Free Money from The Government."

That might reach them.

Yessiree.

Just like newspapers that are run at a loss in order to propagandize for Democrats, so too are cable ‘news’ channels on that path. Just unreported campaign contributions. That’s all.

Look for news media bailouts. Why not? We’ve established the precedent.

I was wondering when advertisers were finally going to take their dollars off of autopilot. Good to see businesses getting back to business.

I think the advertisers have figured that if CNN is targeting a limited market, the dollars returned will also be limited. Better to move on and reap the rewards from networks that actually strive for large numbers of viewers.

And when ad revenue vanishes, the Propaganda companies known as dish and cable will simply double the monthly tithe and most people will pay it because football, reality TV and helping liberals is not important than saving their country from them.

If it weren’t, then why are they still sending the check? Not like there isn’t something else to entertain ones self with. People always find an excuse to keep funding liberalism but rarely an excuse to stop.

Obama’s economy is forcing painful or realistic business decisions. It may simply not be economically justifiable any more for some businesses to advertise with CNN. They need solid information to show a positive return on their spending. CNN is on the hot seat now to prove they’re worth what they want to charge.

I would have to think that even raising rates to support schlubs like CNN would have a point of diminishing returns.

It does. But how many here would give up their TV much less a moderate?

Few. But you always see them bitching about the MSM even though its their cash funding it.

I plead guilty with an explanation your honor. I would not hesitate to stop cable. But that would be WWIII. Happy wife, happy life.

CNN don’t care.

CNN>>>Turner Broadcasting>>>Time Warner

TW makes so much money ($6 bil in 2013) they really don’t care about CNN, which is basically there as a crony capitalist affiliate of the Democrat party.
