One of the nation’s largest coal companies on Wednesday sued President Barack Obama’s administration seeking to block the Environmental Protection Agency’s new carbon emissions rules for power plants.

The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit by Murray Energy Corp. EPA rules announced this month seek to reduce global warming by forcing a 30 percent cut in carbon dioxide emissions from 2005 levels by 2030. […]

“This is clearly an illegal attempt by the Obama EPA to impose irrational and destructive cap-and-tax mandates, which Congress and the American people have consistently rejected,” said Gary Broadbent, the company’s assistant general counsel. …

It’s time for every state to completely ignore whatever this federal government decides to do to their states. It’s called the 10th amendment. Just tell the federal government to pound sand, the states will take care of their citizens, with or without the federal government’s permission. I will advise every governor that is being affected by these federal rulings, to disobey this government.

The EPA won’t let you buy a woodstove anymore that doesn’t meet some far-flung left wing nutwing requirements.

It’s time to abolish the EPA and every gov. department that makes law and return it to congress, then the voters have power to vote out morons.

The Supreme Court has indicated their willingness to do whatever the EPA suggests. Here's one of EPA's latest wins.Supreme Court upholds EPA rule limiting cross-state pollution

The only justices with their wits about them on the SC when it comes to the EPA are Scalia and Thomas (not sure about Alito). Roberts and Kennedy must be greenies.

If you took every bit of the co2 released by all American power plants, coal and otherwise, and liquefied it, it would fit in a 5 foot deep swimming pool the size of the track and football field of your average high school.

Imagine that being water and water vapor and the size of the clouds and compare that with the size of the earth.

I find myself oddly in favor of a coal strike. You would probably have management AND union members BOTH on the picket lines. I would definitely be absolutely willing to go without electricity for a week or two and be hot (or cold), just so I could see the spectacle of Obama sending out the Army to dig coal and to hear about the Northeast going down in riot flames within 4 hours of a grid collapse.

Good. Long overdue. Hope they win. Even if they don’t, it should put some pressure on Congress.

“They should do it in Winter for maximum effect.”

Nah, I’d rather be too hot than too cold, and people don’t like to riot in the winter.

Can we make this a class action lawsuit? The American people should be joining this suit.

Nope, would never work.

They have an endless supply of other people’s money to hire lawyers.
