Lois Lerner email cover-up may succeed: Somewhere, Richard Nixon is chuckling bitterly to himself.

Somewhere, Richard Nixon is chuckling bitterly to himself. When it comes to burying scandal, Tricky Dick was an amateur compared to the gang in the White House today. Obama and Company may well succeed in weaponizing the IRS to hobble his opposition in the 2012 election and escaping the second article of impeachment that Nixon faced.

You can forget about unleashing data recovery experts on the hard drive containing Lois Lerner’s emails – that hard drive has been destroyed. Richard Bade reports in Politico:

Ex-IRS official Lois Lerner’s crashed hard drive has been recycled, making it likely the lost emails of the lightening rod in the tea party targeting controversy will never be found, according to multiple sources.

“We’ve been informed that the hard drive has been thrown away,” Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah, the top Republican on the Finance Committee, said in a brief hallway interview.

Two additional sources told POLITICO the same late Wednesday, citing IRS officials.

Odd, isn’t it, that nobody mentioned this before. Supposedly, recycling is standard procedure for damaged hard drives, and we all know how important recycling is to Saving the Planet. Just try using that excuse, that you recycled your receipts, when the IRS audits you.

Meanwhile, the White House is claiming that they have no records of any suspicious emails from Lerner to people there. The AP reports:

I’ll never believe that it all hinges on the status of one hard drive.

They will argue accident. If there is a prosecution, they will have to prove destruction.

Issa might as well close down the investigation. The communists Democrats hold on America it is impossible to prosecute corruption. America may never recover.

It can succeed only if those looking for the emails are incompetent. The emails had to have been transmitted to a recipient. There’s one place to look. The emails would have had to transit at least one server. There’s another place to look. The federal records laws require hard copy. There’s another place to look.

Start subpoenaing IRS IT people. Put them under oath. Break the IT people and they’ll roll on the political cockroaches.

Fine...cover it up. Perhaps get by with this corruption.

Now, folks should swamp congressional phone lines to call for the abolition of the IRS all together.

This un-American agency should never ever again be allowed to strong arm another American citizen.

Sen. Hatch's statements prove that the D.C. Republicans are but junior members of the Beltway Mafia.

Any large organization has multiple backups of e-mails, etc on different servers, but the Republicans are instead giving the Dem's cover for CRIMINAL ACTIVITY.

This will go nowhere ,The Criminals are in Charge and if the Tea Party lawyers go after all the agencies Lerner sent emails to , hard drives at each one will also be destroyed

So the IRS is telling us they don’t have incremental backups of their email server? That’s not what we were told a few months ago.

The key difference is that Nixon didn’t have the major news outlets covering for him.

I have knowledge directly from someone who was a congressional staffer just how technologically clueless these dolts can be. But you’d think they would have staffers with such a clue.
