RUPERT MURDOCH: Here's Why 'My Heart Sank' When Eric Cantor Lost

News Corp Chairman and CEO Rupert Murdoch

Rupert Murdoch said his "heart sank" after he learned of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor's stunning Republican primary loss last week, because he believes Congress needs to tackle the issue of immigration reform this year.

Murdoch, the chair of News Corp., has an op-ed in Thursday's Wall Street Journal in which he argued immigration reform "can't wait."

After Cantor's loss, immigration reform was almost universally pronounced dead as a possibility this year, as it was perceived to be one of the issues on which Cantor lost favor with his Republican constituents. But Murdoch, touting his status as an immigrant from Australia, writes it would be "the wrong lesson and an undesirable national consequence" of a local election.

Congress will hold off on immigration until the lame duck session after the election. Then, with nothing to lose, they’ll pass it. I don’t see any way to stop them.

Murdoch does not give one logical reason in that article for why we need immigration reform. Not one.

Rupert isn’t rich enough? He needs to depress American’s wages further?

A - hole.

That's just because there aren't any.

Rupert’s heart sank when he heard Cantor lost because Rupert spent millions of dollars making sure Cantor was bought off.

It’s hard to find an ethical politician who stays bought once he has been bought. Cantor will be missed

We must amend the proposition that you are liberal when you are young and conservative when you are older. We need to add that when you become rich, old and senile like Rupert, you probably will become liberal again.

‘Murdoch does not give one logical reason in that article for why we need immigration reform. Not one.’

Interesting. A couple weeks ago Hannity had some guy on who represented a ‘conservative GOP Hispanic group’. No matter how many times and ways that he asked the question this fellow simply would not say that securing the border was something that had to be done before any other issue was addressed. He just would not acknowledge the problem existed and kept on the talking points about needing to ‘reform a broken system’ and provide ‘honest hard working people’ a ‘path to citizenship’.

Part of this BS is that even Hispanics whose families came from Mexico or Central America who are very acculturated and politically conservative can't bring themselves to say the border requires securing even if they intellectually know it. It is just visceral for them. Every family has stories of relatives who waded the river or climbed fences to get here. It is very disturbing to realize a big chunk of the US population basically crosses their fingers when they claim to be Americans first. Some part of them really isn't . They are Latinos first at some level and that triumphs being American.

People like Murdock are just pushing their ‘borderless world’ agenda. A Class of very rich plutocrats simply want to be able to move labor and capital around in ways that enable them to constantly gain relative advantage. If it wrecks your city or country , tough. This is what Soros did in ‘97 and crashed the Asian money markets and produced the Black Monday of 1997 on the NYSE. For him it was just an exercise in gaining relative advantage in manipulating the Thai Baht.

I wish that piece of crap Rupert Murdoch would go back to Australia.

It wasn’t enough that this moron ruined The Wall Street Journal, now he wants to ruin all of America.

Can't you just agree to disagree with Murdoch without insulting him personally?

The Wall Street Journal was for open borders long before Rupert came on the scene.

Rupert did a lot to keep Fox News and conservative papers like the New York Post and the Boston Herald in business.
