FREEP this Poll : Obama has no right to claim jurisdiction over most of the entire Central Pacific . It is not U.S. territory and enforcement of such a declaration with involve extra-territorial enforcement efforts . Further , this action will greatly diminish supplies of commercial fish from the Pacific and may even limit subsistence fishing by local fishermen . The are Bush declared are within our administrative territory and are more than a sufficient conservation measure . Obama is grandstanding on a megalomaniacal level ( again)

Well yes, but he is also taking care of his donors in the aquaculture business (most likely Tyson Foods), putting small producers out of business to construct an oligopoly in fish.

It's a twofer! Ain't fascism fun!

Heck no! It’s just a federal power grab / another utopian scheme! And I didn’t even need to read it to know that.

That is what I was wondering too. How does the Obama
presume to make rules and regulations covering vast amounts of the ocean outside our territorial limits?
