Or did I miss it?
He's certainly got some of the more interesting bumper music around, anyone else out there listen?
I especially enjoy his fourays into Asian happenings and history in general..
Not to mention this fall we will be cruising thru a number of conflicts both political and social.
WE survived Greece and Roma.
ON to Beijing and Bangkok..
And the Vietnam straits..

He has a quirky voice too..
Well, maybe to me sort of.
This is John Batchelor..
The John Bachelor Show
I listen when I think of it.
He got scammed by the ‘last train from Hiroshima’ author.
We’re visiting Nagasaki.. Should be interesting.
I’m certain it’s in better condition than Detroit.
In 1950 Detroit enjoyed the highest standard of living in the US and was the fourth largest city in the country. I think I heard that on one of Batchelor’s programs, probably with Thaddeus McCotter as his guest.
Not to exalt your self description, though true, it may be, it is gross...Batchelor had the best show on radio bar none, when it was Batchelor and Alexander, Batchelor not being the slouch in the duo.
Am sure it’s still good.
Haven’t tuned in in awhile.
I used to post one, but due to lack of interest I stopped. I like him okay, but he’s definitely an establishment GOPer, but at least he is honest about it.
I listen every night. Back year’s ago, he had a show Batchelor and Alexendar which was very nice show too.
Can you provide a link for info on that scam? Would like to know more...
I used to listen to him regularly but now not so much because of other commitments. He’s very good with international crises, and his NASA/space stuff is always interesting and informative. I should try to tune in more often.
Hi Perdogg, actually I think he is a Democrat, he lives in NYC after all. But he hides it well and doesn’t offend. His skill in interviewing book authors is awesome.
When he and Kudlow get on the subject of amnesty I have to flat turn him off.
Facing withering criticism from groups that had questioned aspects of the book, publisher Henry Holt and Company suspended printing as Pellegrino “had relied on a fraudulent source for a portion of the book and possibly fabricated others”.
Pellegrino said that he had trusted Joseph Fuoco, who had claimed to be a replacement flight engineer on one of the planes that escorted the Enola Gay to Hiroshima.
John Macrae, who edited the book for the publisher, said that he had questioned and received confirmation of hundreds of sections of the book. Macrae said that he had heard claims from scientist friends that the original atomic bomb had been involved in an accident and that his focus had been on confirming aspects of the book involving survivors, including efforts to speak with double survivor Yamaguchi.
Richard Rhodes, author of The Making of the Atomic Bomb said that he would have sought stronger confirmation for aspects of Pellegrino’s story that represented “a radical change in the historical record”.
Pellegrino also faced questions about the existence of Father Mattias, a priest who was said to have survived the bomb in Hiroshima, and of John MacQuitty, who the book said officiated at his funeral.
However, director James Cameron defended Pellegrino, saying “All I know is that Charlie would not fabricate so there must be a reason for the misunderstanding” and believes that it was caused by “elaborate deception to create a false account.”
In early March 2010, the publisher announced that “It is with deep regret that Henry Holt and Company announces that we will not print, correct or ship copies” of the book.
” I like him okay, but hes definitely an establishment GOPer, but at least he is honest about it.”
That’s a fact.
He’s a Republican, but definitely an establishment Republican. Which is why you might mistake him for being a Democrat.
Wow! Very complicated. Thanks for the information.
“When he and Kudlow get on the subject of amnesty I have to flat turn him off. “
Isn’t that the truth. Cocaine Larry is a silk shirted elitist who never has to live with the fallout from his illegal alien darlings.
I was sorry to learn that the story wasn’t accurate. It could still make a good movie for James Cameron I suppose.
You can find the podcast through his website, I-tunes, Feedly, and Beyond Pod.
“When he and Kudlow get on the subject of amnesty I have to flat turn him off. “
I’m not sure but did I hear Kudlow say he voted for Obama twice? I may be mistaken as he says he is a Free Market Capitalist. Although he is married to an editor of The Nation...
I knew i had seen threads... Thanks.
I like the weird music..
he is occasionally a little too obvious but
like a pro he usually can reel it back in.
i grab him out of reno late night..
sf bay has him earlier in the evening
I like the fact that he’s a passionate supporter of Israel and has Malcolm Hoenlein on regularly. His fascination with history, science, and space exploration makes for a very rewarding show.
Agree. Sometimes on the weekends, he'll devote 4 hours to a historical topic, such as US-Japanese relations in the early 20th century, or D-Day.
Are you thinking of Steve Cohen, who is married to Hurricane Katrina vanden Heuvel?
I do take issue from time to time. Today for example his guest talked about the decline (my word) of the Tea Party post 2010; but no mention of the crap piled on Tea Party members by the IRS, et al. Instead of Tea Party the people seem to be avoiding left-right issues and divide between we the people and Washington.
I emailed a complaint to Batchelor for the hit piece (IMO) that he and a guest did on Army Major General Edwin A. Walker who resigned the Army after disputes with JFK to join the anti-communist efforts as a civilian because it did not seem to him that Washington was doing enough.
His association with the John Birch Society immediately got him in trouble with JFK/RFK and was "detained" for mental observation but released within days after public outcry.
He was falsely accused of leading violent protests at U. of Mississippi, sued news service AP, won, AP appealed all the way to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court took AP's side saying that AP did not do it deliberately.
Batchelor and his guest talked about Walker "leading" racist, violent protests but nothing about his successful suit against AP for reporting false information.
Makes me wonder about other items. But in general it's an excellent source of information well beyond anything else on radio.
I can’t stand Kudlow. He said when first elected ‘’Obama will be a good president’’ and he loves illegals. That and the fact he doesn’t seem to understand what the concept of ‘’anonymous’’ in Alcoholics Anonymous means.
I’ve listened to him many times in my car and the way home from work and wish him well.
Tonight at home I was listening to Mark Levin on the internet. Batchelor (WJR 760 Detroit) comes on right after Levin.
The choice? I switched off Batchelor and went Alex Jones
MUCH MORE content from Alex than John (I can’t pick up Alex’s signal on my car radio late at night so I listen to John)
choice (and reason for making it)
“Are you thinking of Steve Cohen, who is married to Hurricane Katrina vanden Heuvel? “
My bad. You’re right. Steve Cohen must sound just like Kudlow, or they appear on Batchelor’s show together and I get them confused. This is what I get for believing what I think my ears are hearing. :)
Often interesting and informative with plenty of details. Great program.
I only recall one annoying instance where he and Kudlow wouldn’t shut up about the conservative resistance to illegal immigration. They were both very foolish in their childish, condescending remarks.
To me, he’s the Art Bell of politics. Always weaving a fantastical story with hints of kook and paranoia, but based in politics rather than supernatural.
Seriously, John has a very informative program most of the time. I listen to it when I am driving home from work late.
John Batchelor is a major league sucky show. Has the same metrosexual voice as Medved, the second to worse bumper music after Art Bell reruns, and a tired world war II historical content that would bore people in rest homes that were actually there.
Yeah, the intellectual dishonesty is staggering. As if there is no difference between legal and illegal immigration. I’m thinking of ceasing to listen to Batchelor because of it. Not to mention he had Dean Obeidallah on.
Cohen has a preternaturally class A radio voice (at least over the phone). And he is married to the editor of the Nation. And he admits to voting the wrong way in 2008 and 2012. But Batchelor nevertheless has him on because Russia is hot, and he knows a hell of a lot about Russia.
How he could possibly be mistaken for Kudlow escapes me.
I would listen to him more if he didn’t seem obsess on China so much.
“BTW, you can download Kudlow’s three-hour (115 minute) Saturday radio show here (the RSS feed is here).”
Thanks. I listen to in on WMAL, so I am (or so I thought) familiar with his voice, don’t know how I could have mixed him up with the other guy if they’re not similar.
What happened to change it?
He’s right up my alley then. :-)
Although medved got killed to the rearview a long time ago, art bell took no bs, and we could learn a lot from studying history, so he is kind of a professorial type, it at least bears hearing some Chinese news as you will, they actually have better news then here, oh well, each their own cup of tea.
Maybe if they shared some dim sum recipes and eateries info, China is the elephant in the sushi bar, to ignore is to get stomped.
I’d say it was:
1. The race riot of 1967
2. White flight
3 The 1974 election of Coleman Young, the most corrupt and racist black mayor in history.
4 The decimation of American industrial manufacturing
Probably because no one ever heard of him!
Steve Cohen has an adult male voice. Medved, not so much unless prissy and pedantic fit the bill. There is a similarity in Medved and Batchelor’s speaking style.
His show is sometimes interesting, but he is a GOP-e hack. Bob
Did you catch him tonight? His puzzling was dire. So much is going on in the world and right here in our own yard, it’s depressing as heck. I’m unnerved...
