Posted on 06/20/2014 11:55:08 AM PDT by SeekAndFind
Sen. Rand Paul (R-Kentucky) criticized former Vice President Dick Cheney and blamed "those who supported the Iraq War" for the current crisis in the country in an interview with NBC's David Gregory Friday. Gregory asked Paul about the op-ed co-authored by Dick Cheney and his daughter, Liz that blasted President Barack Obama's handling of the Iraqi crisis and his foreign policy as a whole.
Paul said the same questions raised by Cheney in his op-ed could be asked of those who supported the original decision to invade Iraq. He also said he didn't blame Obama for the current crisis, pointing the finger at Cheney and other supporters of the Iraq War for the current Middle East chaos and for "emboldening Iran."
"I think the same questions could be asked of those who supported the Iraq War," Paul said of Cheney's op-ed. "You know, were they right in their predictions? Were there weapons of mass destruction there? Thats what the war was sold on. Was democracy easily achievable? Was the war won in 2005, when many of these people said it was won?
Paul went on to note many current Iraq War supporters also are concerned about the situation in Iran.
"They didnt really, I think, understand the civil war that would break out. And whats going on now I dont blame on President Obama. Has he really got the solution? Maybe there is no solution. But I do blame the Iraq War on the chaos that is in the Middle East," said Paul. "I also blame those who are for the Iraq War for emboldening Iran. These are the same people now who are petrified of what Iran may become, and I understand some of their worry."

Rand Paul (R-MoveOn.org)
And once again, one of the Pauls shows that they are incapable of critical thinking, or being relevant and honest.
Libertarians are the best political friends democrats could have.
FURP X 2
the apple sure doesnt fall far from the tree.
anyone who would call this guy a “conservative” and support him for president needs their cranial wiring checked.
Someone should remind him that YES, there were WMDs.
Three mustard gas shells rigged as IEDs and one Sarin shell rigged as an IED, plus one green band shell in crate ready to take chemicals were found.
And ONE shell is proof..
ping ... Rand is looking for a photoshop circus montage all his own. Just like daddy.
Paul must really really NOT want to be the prez in 2016.
I can’t imagine anyone doing more damage to his future careeer than Rand Paul himself.
I gave Mr. Paul every reasonable opportunity, but he’s off my list.
Who pulled the troops out prematurely? who closed our bases? Who abandoned our bases, equipment, weapons and supplies to the enemy? Who degraded our military? Who signaled to the terrorist world that the USA will no longer oppose them? Who actually fights on the side of the Islamic terrorists? Who is pissing on the graves of our fallen heroes? Who is the absolute worst president ever? Why is Rand Paul supporting the treasonous surrender monkey left? Oh yeah. It’s a family tradition.
ROFLMTO...Rand Paul....like a see saw.
That would include the Clintons, Kerry and most of the house and senate.
Wasn't there a report that 250 tons of yellow cake was shipped to Canada for disposal? Weren't a number of chemical weapons labs discovered ? didn't they just say in the news that the terrorists had just taken over one of Sadam's toxic gas production sites?
Paul sounds like he reading from the Huffington Post. Wasn't he a republican at one time?
What he means to say is “I would have made the same mistake as Obama”.
It’s undoubtable that if Saddam had still been in power, there would be no ISIS invasion. BUT, Rand Paul is totally wrong Obama is not responsible. If he had left a residual force, this would NOT have happened
Well Paul did say the Republicans need to reach out to Dem voters. LOL. He is his father with a smoother personality.
Never really liked him. Now he is on the “no way” list.
That’s the way to get the GOP nomination.
Rand Paul really thinks Obama’s handling of the situation is adequate?
What a pizzle.
They are extremely poor at national security.
Exactly which voters are being patronized by Rand Paul these days?
You know.. I've been meaning to address that.
It's on my list for the weekend.
If you can figure out how to make one shell, you can make as many more as you like.
Yes, Rand, it is.
Yes, it is true that there was no al-Qaeda in Iraq when George W. Bush took office. But it is equally true that there was essentially no al-Qaeda in Iraq remaining when Barack Obama took office.
Obama assured the world that Iraq was “sovereign, stable, and self-reliant” and pulled US troops out - Obama lied, and thousands died......
My feelings too...I tried to consider him as a possible legitimate candidate for Pres, but he obviously isn't up to the task.
He is now ON my list!
When your ENEMY (Democrats) is failing at EVERY POSSIBLE TURN, It’s time to quietly watch... shhhhhhh... quiet
Way to go Rand... I mean does Rand have ZERO political instincts?
Fast forward, you see the results of Obama's "finishing" the war the way he wanted to.
I had to laugh, bitterly, at the news report that ISIS had just this week taken control of one of Saddam's chemical weapons sites...that's a complete contradiction to reports that there were "no WMD"s", unless you only count nukes as WMD's, and there actually WAS evidence of nuke activity, if not actual weapons.
Rand Paul has some good qualities, but being half good is like being half baked. I would hope no one here would seriously consider him as a Presidential candidate. He would be as ruinous in many ways as Obama has been to our country, IMHO.
What gravy train was promised to you, Rand?
That is why they are called Libtardians
And this is why Rand Paul can never be trusted with the Presidency.
He is a great Senator but he just does not get it on foreign policy issues.
It runs in the family
Anyone have a Krauthammer "ping list"?!
It all dates back to a Hittite invasion more than two millennia ago. Obama is just cleaning up their mess. Never was his fault.
Within weeks of Obama trading the Taliban Joint Chiefs of Staff (five of them), ISIS invades and takes over Iraq. Something they hadn’t done in the prior six years, despite fighting in Lebanon and Syria for years.
Yes, it is Obama’s fault. He capitulated, so they surged back and took Iraq.
I have never felt comfortable about Rand nor trusted him. I see why that thinking was there. Next, we will see the media push him in the front of the line for the republican nomination; knowing that he cannot solidify the base. I would never support him. So, please don’t try to convince me he is the less of the evils.
BZZZT! Thanks for playing Rand, and the pretty lady will show you to the nice parting gift we have for you backstage.
Just what Republicans need a Presidential Candidate who will stand up FOR obama and the democrats. PORP
Rand can’t be this stupid. It’s impossible. (He’s just kissed off any chance of the presidency, it’s definitely past time to start backing other candidates).
What would you expect from the Paul family. He supported Mitch McConnel after all.
Well at least we know who our RINO’s are.
[ Libertarians are just like Neville Chamberlain.
They are extremely poor at national security. ]
The best mix is Big C Conservativism / Little L libertarianism that only applies the Little L ONLY to the country’s population and not to aliens.
This is the biggest issue I have with Big L libertarians is that they think they can apply an internal policy concerning freedom to the rest of the world that is built on tyranny...
He is done as a national GOP figure and is just becoming another McCain for the media, used by them to attack the GOP.
