Has the Death Knell Sounded for the Obama Presidency?
PBS ^ | Friday, June 20, 2014 | Domenico Montanaro

Posted on 06/20/2014 1:20:24 PM PDT by kristinn

It has been a rough week for President Barack Obama.

The prospect of the United States being dragged back into Iraq, a war the president thought he had ended, has spurred criticism on both sides and presents yet another foreign-policy complication that threatens his presidency.

Foreign hotspots – from Iraq to Syria to Ukraine — have tested Mr. Obama and taken a toll on his standing. An NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.pdf) this week found him with the lowest foreign policy approval of his presidency — just 37 percent. His approval is down from 52 percent in Dec. 2012 right after he was re-elected.

The president finds himself in a difficult spot. He’ll get blamed for problems around the world, even ones with no tidy solutions. But there’s little indication war-weary Americans want the U.S., and specifically American troops, to do much about them.

But even bigger than just foreign policy, the NBC/WSJ poll also found Obama’s presidency on the edge–if not worse.

Two-and-a-half years is a long time for a presidency. But nice headline :-)

Unless he resigns, at some not-so-distant-point in the future, he could very well drag the whole Democratic party down with him.

Not that’s a bad thing or anything.

Let me answer that question with several more.

Has Obama assumed room temperature? Is he behind bars? Is he a deposed fugitive hiding out in a third world hellhole?

Well then. There’s your answer

The last sentence in the article says it all:

“What we’re left with is two unpopular entities — Obama and Congress — somewhat offsetting each other, leading to a national environment…in which neither party has that great of an edge.”

A truly sad commentary on our political system, And according to “the polls,” the RATS enjoy a 7% better rating than the RINOS in Congress. And we are seeing the mistrust of the GOP in the fact that their candidates get no traction with the voters.

Heck no, the guy will simply continue to sabatoge America's economy, destroy its military, unleash immorality in all ways, lie, cheat, steal, destroy, and all with executive orders, all with personal directives through his agents.

The man never was the greater of two evils (for all you idiot "lesser of two evils" shills), he's something we've not seen before in this country. A genuine scorched earth destroyer.

The stupid party always finds a way to well....stay stupid. With a leaders like Bonehead Boehner, and Mitch the Ditch, what can you expect? Seniority is fine but it should not be an excuse for senile strategy. the RNC should be on the airwaves and boob tube (even though I do not own one) day and night, constantly pounding the Rats for all the scandals and Obozocare until even the low information voter can recite them by heart. Will that work? The other strategy is hoping they don't upset the cart and take the Senate while keeping the House, in other words, nothing.

apples and oranges in these polls.

Heavily populated areas tend to be Democratic. If a Democrat District has 70% approval for Obama so what? In Congressional races the only votes that count are the votes within the specific district.

Besides which, the real fight this year is in the Senate and there are more than a handful of Senate Democrats running in States that Mitt Romney WON!

Congressional unpopularity is an ADVANTAGE for Republicans.

Besides which, it is the job of Congress to fight and argue, and many panty-waste idiots dislike fighting and arguing.

I can imagine a scenario where he goes on tv and publicly resigns, blaming Republican intransigence and white guys, before any movement to impeach him goes full steam.

Besides, impeaching means nothing unless he is also voted to being removed from office. All it means is that he can’t run ever again.

Bill Clinton seems to be doing well, despite having been impeached.

Not only will Obama have to be in a wooden suit but it’s going to take a century to get rid of every little thug tyrant he installed in every single government bureaucracy and new agency he created. We also haven’t felt the real impact of the massive amount of debt they racked up. And lets not forget having to rebuild the medical care industry that he destroyed. Just because he won’t be president or even alive doesn’t mean his reign will end.

Obama's MO is to do nothing and hope events work out by themselves. If something must be done, he'll slow-walk through the process.

Too bad for him, and the country, that events tend to zip along at lightening speed.

If the dems decide he’s toxic then and only then will he be impeached and convicted until then he knows he cAn violate the law with abandon

All true, but both the RATs and RINO’s have abysmal poll numbers, and for good reason. Just look at these circle jerks going on in the various House “Oversight” Committees. Lot’s of heat, but very little, if any light; and it’s been going on for literally years in most cases. If the House were a private enterprise, most, if not all of the members would have been fired long ago. Shame on all of us for not doing our job as their “board of directors.”

The RNC should be on the airwaves and boob tube (even though I do not own one) day and night, constantly pounding the Rats for all the scandals and Obozocare until even the low information voter can recite them by heart.

And how, exactly, do they do that? The "airwaves and boob tube" still belong, by and large, to the Ministry of Truth -- which has no interest in broadcasting the truth about a Democrat administration.

That's like saying "Arrest all the SOBs in the IRS and cast them into jail"...when the DOJ is the instrumentality which must arrest the SOBs and put them in the clink.

We've got to be realistic about this: We don't have the media. We don't have the DOJ. We don't have a brave and impassioned Republican party which knows how to work their will (or necessarily wants to).

So...what's the solution?

There are a lot of smart people on this website. Between us, surely we can compound an effective plan that amounts to more than baying at the moon.

"His presidency may be ending, but I think his reign is just beginning."

Absolutely correct. Foreign relations doesn't mean squat to Obama. He is obsessed with transforming America and knowing that no one will dare try to stop him for fear of having the media label them a racist means full speed ahead with domestic and environmental totalitarianism for the next 28 months ...then come the pardons.

I really don’t think Obama likes being President. He likes the benefits, but he doesn’t like being the President. I also don’t think that he’s the leader of the Democrat Party. If we had a real press, they’d smoke out whoever it is that’s actually running the country. Obama is just a spokesmodel. He’s like Marie Osmond. She does a nice job of selling that nutrisystem, but she isn’t running the outfit. Same with Obama.
That’s why the real fight is with the Democrat Party. If Obama leaves, the puppet master just puts up a different puppet. It’s not Obamacare, it’s Democratcare. It’s not Obama’s foreign policy failures, it’s Democrat foreign policy failures.
We have to put the puppet master out of business. When the puppet master can no longer make money, he packs up the puppet show and leaves.

“I am actually very please with the Republicans in the House. They are supposed to fight, and they finally are starting to fight.”

Maybe, but they are also supposed to make a difference. Thus far, nothing has changed. I truly believe that the vast majority of them are afraid to confront Obama and the RATs because they fear that the MSM will rip them and the idiot voters will not make the necessary changes in November. And maybe that’s right. So after November remember they have a lame duck session after the election where if the RATS loose, and they are going to try as best they can to mess things up, the GOP is going to have to hang tough. That will be when we will know their true stripes.

But how can you actually claim to be “pleased” when you see things like this $hit in Mississippi where the GOPe wants to retain a relic and they are willing to go to the kind of lengths we only thought RATs were capable of to get their way. Just shameful behavior.
