A teenage girl and 39-year old man who desecrated an Edinburgh mosque by attacking it with strips of bacon have both been jailed.

They attached bacon to door handles and threw strips inside Edinburgh's Central Mosque on 31 January 2013.

A text to the phone asked: "What you do last night?" The reply was: "Went to the mosque in Edinburgh and wrapped bacon round the door handles, opened the door and threw it in ha ha ha." 'Very disturbing'

It hurt my feelings when I saw this

There you have it! Clearly they should be imprisoned, for hurting someone's feelings! < /s >

Excellent use of Bacon if you ain’t eatin’ it! Grease from a pork roast sloshed around would do fine!

They desecrated the bacon. Usually I would consider that a crime, but in this case it was done for a good cause.

These people were ordered to serve hard time. This was technically at worst malicious mischief but they apparently were convicted of some kind of hate crime, which turns a harmless prank into a class 1 felony.

This was not a crime of hate, but a stupid prank at worst. The worst penalty they should have received would have been a $100 fine and a couple of weekends of picking up trash.

If they smeared feces on a church pew they would have been celebrated by their liberal leaders and instead of a slap in the wrist they would have gotten a shake of the hand...

I don’t know about that. They abandoned construction at a site in France[?] because there had been a pig interred in the ground when it was discovered what was being built.

One could sacrifice a few strips of tasty goodness for that kind of result...
