Senate Democrats Pushing Bill to Wipe Out Every Single Pro-Life Law on Abortion
Life News ^ | June 20, 2014 | William Saunders and Mary Harned

Posted on 06/20/2014 2:42:44 PM PDT by NYer

Few Americans are aware that a “Gosnell Prerogative Act” has been introduced in Congress. This bill would permit the grisliest abortion providers—like the now-convicted murderer, Kermit Gosnell—to set the standard of care for abortion.

Unsurprisingly, this bill is not actually called the “Gosnell Prerogative Act”—instead, S.1696 is deceptively titled the “Women’s Health Protection Act.” However, it is difficult to imagine a bill less protective of women and their unborn children.

In spite of court interference, we have made great strides in the enactment and defense of state legislation that regulates and limits abortions since Roe v. Wade, with approximately 160 laws enacted across the country between 2011 and 2013 alone.

Now, imagine the laws in 32 states requiring varying degrees of informed consent prior to an abortion invalidated overnight. Twenty laws prohibiting partial-birth abortion – gone. Twenty-nine state laws requiring abortion clinics to meet some degree of safety standards—gone. Other abortion bans, admitting privileges requirements, regulations on abortion-inducing drugs, ultrasound requirements, and limitations on the use of public funds and facilities for abortions and abortion training–all gone.

Imagine the vast majority of pro-life laws wiped out with the enactment of a single piece of federal legislation. That is the purpose behind S. 1696.

S. 1696 attempts to override U.S. Supreme Court precedent and other legal standards and would logically permit abortionists to set the standard of care for their patients with no oversight from the state and no effective remedies for the abortion industry’s abuses. This bill could reasonably be interpreted to invalidate virtually any type of state restriction or regulation on abortion, and would also prohibit the future enactment of any of these laws.

S. 1696 adopts the myths that abortion is good for women, asserting that it is “essential to women’s health,” and, condescendingly, that abortion is “central to women’s ability to participate equally in the economic and social life of the United States.”

Abortion advocates understand that Roe v. Wade will likely be overturned in the future. Abortion providers are also shaken by the success of pro-life laws enacted across the country. One surefire way to guarantee that the abortion industry continues to flourish in this country would be to enact federal legislation that invalidates state pro-life laws.

Shamefully, the abortion industry is pursuing this strategy in the name of protecting women, when in reality they are much more concerned about protecting their pocket book.

The Supreme Court has acknowledged that abortion is fundamentally different than any other procedure. No other procedure involves the purposeful termination of a human life. Abortion is “fraught with consequences” that do not exist with other “procedures.”

States must be free to regulate abortion differently than they regulate life-affirming healthcare. Congress should not even consider a bill that would obliterate over four decades of labor on behalf of our unborn children and their mothers. Surely, the Gosnell scandal taught us that much.

The Gosnell Prerogative Act is an insult to all those who suffered because of Gosnell – and others like him. It should never see the light of day.

The only thing that congress is adept at is providing names for their legislation that in no way actually describe the bill in a truthful way.

They're going to do the same thing that the homosexual Nazis are doing to States' constitutional amendments upholding traditional marriage between one man and one woman.

All under the false narrative of "reproductive rights."

Norm, I didn’t see Romney’s name mentioned in the Article so I am making the assumption that you are purposely going off topic to make some point about something or other.

If not, could you kindly highlight that section of the Article that mentions Romney by name and shows his support for such Legislation?

Could you also list the names of the Romney Lovers on FR you seem to be obsessed with?

Are these people that Voted for Romney in the Primary Election or those that Voted for Romney in the General Election to try and prevent the Traitorous Bastard Obama from affirming his Death Grip on the United States of America?

Thank you in advance.

Perhaps you should have a look theough the threads in the last week with all his former supporters coming out and disrupting threads with their blame the conservative routine.

Or all the threads with all his former supporters demanding more patience and the electing of lesser evils to deal with Iraq, the immigration issue or Issa’s cover for the Dem investigations.

Oh...while they blame those of us that refused to vote him into power.

No need for me to make lists. All you need to do is read more. Because it is unavoidable lately.

Norm, doesn’t matter, we’re already screwed.

I guess I’m just sick of rehashing 2012, especially when it has nothing to do with the Thread Topic.

If you reply “Bring Back American Jobs”, I think I’ll go Postal. LOL

I can’t remember if you and I have gone back and forth regarding my support of the Levin Rule, not that it matters now, but everyone here is entitled to their Opinions regarding the mess we find ourselves in today.

I’m not into labeling people here because they have a differing opinion than mine. Just my $.02...

Bring back Amer.... ;)

I;m not into labling people that do not deserve it. But until people are held to their actions nothing will ever change.

If the same people last time were not constantly making excuses and now pushing for the idiot again, none of us would need to touch it again. But Romney is back in action and so are his minions.

I really doubt most of us want round 2 of Romney. The simple way to ensure there is no round 2 it to end the madness now so in 2 years we do not here “Unless you elect mitt you hate America and love Hillary!:

And you know as well as I do we will.

I understand your frustration, but the Republican Primary Voters put us in this situation. It’s how people decide to react to the Hand they are dealt in the General.

I was a Newt guy. He wasn’t perfect by a long shot, cue the photo of him and Pelosi on the Couch, but he was head and shoulders over the others. It was a sad day for me when he pulled out.

Please God, no Bush’s, Romney’s or Clinton’s, PLEASE...
No Santorum’s or Paul’s while you’re at it.

I have Newt misgivings due to his couch trip with Nancy, but I still backed him when it mattered.

I don’t see MR as a lesser of two evils. I see him as another set of evils. His record is what it is, backs that up, and whatever the rest of America does is on America’s shoulders. Not mine. The founders did not elect loyalists to the crown. Reagan told us to ‘let them go their own way’

Ultimately this time, regardless of who the GOP rams down, if they cannot hit the traditional 80% mark, I will still not cut my own throat. I have to wonder how such a loose margin, a potential 1 in 5 votes for liberalism, is such a high bar for any Republican, much less a conservative to cross.

The DemocRAT baby killers don’t want any more AMERICAN babies in their country. From now on, all children in this country will come from Mexico, Central and South America only. They make better low information, DemocRATS voters than those pesky, America-loving, American kids do.

I’m not so sure you’re correct.
My daughter had a baby in January and I spent a couple of hours for two days at the local maternity ward.
And not the one downtown.

Based on a small but probably accurate sampling, and conversations with the nurses:

1) Not many of the babies being born are future Republicans

2) Most of the babies being born are being paid for by current Republicans.

This should be of interest to the Freepers coming out of the walls lately with Romney love. Cuz...you know...he’s FULLY on board with the abortion thing..>

Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better about giving Obama his second chance. Herman Caine is right.
