Critics say President Obama's 'My Brother's Keeper' initiative addressing challenges faced by boys of color should be expanded to include girls of color.
Valerie Jarrett, a senior aide to President Obama, is clearly frustrated by the pushback hes getting over his initiative to help boys and young men of color stay on the right path.
What about the girls? critics are asking. This week, more than 1,000 women of color signed a letter calling on the president to expand his My Brothers Keeper initiative to include girls of color.
Today, many women and girls of color are under siege in the United States, and the myth that they are not must be challenged, said the June 17 letter, whose signatories include author Alice Walker, law professor Anita Hill, and actress Rosario Dawson.
The letter cites statistics. For example, black girls are more than three times as likely to be suspended from school than white girls, and disproportionately funneled through the juvenile justice system, it says. For Latina girls, the four-year graduation rate from high school is the lowest among all girls. And economic insecurity is greater for girls than for boys, as they face wage and wealth inequality.
Ms. Jarrett rejects the idea that the White House is trying to help boys at the expense of girls or that its ignoring girls in any way.

There is a reason for that. I would imagine it is because they are 3 times more likely to act out in a manner that requires it.......
What about transgender disabled people of color? What about them? Won’t someone think of the transgender disabled people of color? Oh no!
How about those children that are deemed to be “unsure” or otherwise in some “other” category .... she seems a bit gender biased!
You believe suspensions are directly proportional to the way they act out?
I'd surmise that there are dampening/impedance factors that make the suspensions one-tenth the amount of those acting out in the manner that requires a suspension.
I wonder what this slut is up to. She’s been in the news a lot lately.
We can keep giving special programs for ‘special’ people until the end of time. It won’t make any difference. Some people are smarter than others.
Is pRESIDENT Valerie planning to run as she
has been pRESIDENT for the last six years.
It wouldn’t be “unexpected” to me if Jarrett dukes it out with Slick Willie’s wife in order to get TWO MORE terms as president.
Isn’t white a color?
My my my. Valerie is coming out of the shadows. Where’s the puppet? Is he broken?
Make up your mind, b*tch—you slather them with free breakfast, lunch and dinner at schools, you provide Section 8 housing, free-BenghaziBarrySoebarkah phones and cry racism every time they get caught doing anything bad.
Yet, you worry they’re not getting enough respect?!?
The blacks have been the slaves of the democrats for eons
Just normal for this administration to carry on with the crisis they help make worse... a “crisis” they pretend to try and solve via the Cloward/Piven Strategy.
HA! (love it!)
I noticed that too. Jarrett usually is content playing ventriloquist to Obama’s Dummy. It makes me nervous that she is confident enough to drop the mask. Something is up, something she does not trust Obama to handle. Perhaps because his ‘popularity’ has sank somewhat here lately. Perhaps Val thinks Obama’s credibility is wrecked, reduced and will stay that way, this may be why she has pushed him out of the driver’s seat on certain topics. What the hell is she ‘having lunch’ with Murdoch about? Yes, that also happened this week.
How about “puppies of color?” Aren’t they included?
Kitties of color?
Hamsters of color?
Change means removing us
I guess that folks just can’t make the connection with his obsession with boys.....or the antipathy Moochelle has engendered in him towards “girls”.
