State health regulators are investigating Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California for possible violations of the law after complaints from consumers attempting to use their Obamacare insurance plans.
Shelley Rouillard, director of the Department of Managed Health, said Friday that many consumers picked plans that would allow them to see a certain doctor only to discover their doctor wasnt included in the network when they called for an appointment. Other consumers struggled to find doctors accepting new patients.
This is a massive change in the expansion of the health-care system in California and in the country, Rouillard said.

Fining them to death will work.
bc/BS was a major player in the passage of this law. If it comes back to bite them in the ass all the better.
Hmmm.... wonder what they are doing right to upset the moonbats?
Eventually we’ll all be peasants.
..... My lady is covered by Anthem Blue Cross and in no way had any need whatsoever or even considered signing up for the ACA aka Obamacare ..... but still received a notice declaring that her doctor of almost 20 years is no longer covered under the network..... Needless to say .... she was not amused.
“Lose money, or we’ll throw your ass in jail!”
Just a nitpicky thing, but CA has Blue Cross, not Blue Cross and Blue Shield. Still part of the BCBS Association, though.
i think the problem here is ENGLISH... and they use/misuse/confuse "In Network" with PARTICIPATING
a Doc can be considered In Network, meaning the ins-co WILL pay if you can see them vs OUT of Network where they will NOT pay if you see them
then there's the word PARTICIPATING... just because a Doc is considered IN Network, that does NOT MEAN they participate with a given plan in the Network.
it's a hard lesson to learn, but in English, different words DO have different meanings
Not all of them. I worked for HCSC at the time ... they're BCBS Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico and now another ... Wyoming, I think. Biggest Blues plan in the country. They fought against the ACA tooth and nail. They also encouraged the PAC to contact our congress critters to tell them to vote against it.
I agree. Couldn’t happen to a not-nicer health insurance company. I hope Obamacare does them in once and for all.
Then why are they selling worthless plans on the federal exchange?
