Iranians interviewed by Israel's Channel 2 at the soccer World Cup expressed opinions very different from their leadership regarding the Jewish state. Clearly intoxicated by the World Cup spirit, the reveling fans said "Israel is good," and "we love Israel."

The Iranians may face trouble at home, as Iranian authorities do not like it when citizens stray from the government's official policies in public. However, many are likely Iranian expats living abroad.
Six Iranians were recently arrested for making a tribute video to Pharrell Williams' hit song "Happy," in which unveiled women danced with men, have since been released. However, they were forced to "repent" on national TV - after reportedly undergoing serious abuse.

What a kick.
The Maccabees must practice restraint./s
Obama is unhappy.
All the Persians I’ve met (even the ones that call themselves Iranians) have no love for the mess in Iran and love living here in the USA.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
Abraham bargained him down to ten, but it’s still a near thing.
They will need Obama style “re-education” upon return to Iran.
I agree.
And just because they’re Muslims, don’t you dare mistake them for Arabs — that is like calling them (fill in the blanks).
By the way, there was not ONE Iranian terrorist on board the three planes on 9/11/2001 and since that day no Iranian has tried a terrorist act in the US or in Europe. Does anyone know if there are Iranians in the Taliban or Al-Qaeda?
Sheesh, I loved visiting Iran when the shah was still in charge. They produced the best vodka and caviar — better even than the Russians’.
My friend and her family fled Iran after the Shah was overthrown..also because it was more difficult to live in Iran since they are Jewish..only one family member is left in Iran but he has already flipped to the other side, married to a Muslim woman, etc..every Iranian Ive met living here in the US would never step foot in Iran again
Roger that on the Iranian vodka.
My experience too...
Never really understood why Iran is obssessed with Israel/Palestine. The vast majority of Palestinians are Sunni Arabs who hate Shia Muslims as much as they hate Jews and Christians. The proliferation of ISIS flags on the Gaza strip and the West Bank surely means that the Iranians should just say ‘f*** ‘em’ to the Palestinians and leave them to their fighting with Israel whilst they protect their own religious kin...
They are probably Iranians who do NOT LIVE IN IRAN
You are probably right. I saw a lot of uncovered female heads among the Iran fans. National soccer teams transcend all politics. A person could flee the country within an inch of their life, but it will not stop them from rooting for the national team. The team has nothing to do with politics.
I saw pictures of American and Iranian fans together on the beach as well.
Soccer players in Iran have gotten in trouble before, it’s mentioned in the article on the Iran National Soccer Team at wikipedia. Some of their players once of all things, supported the Green Party in Iran it sounds like the article says.
