Paul: US has been arming ISIS in Syria
The Hill ^ | Sunday, June 22, 2014 | Rebecca Shabad

Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said Sunday that the Sunni militants taking over Iraq have quickly gained power because the United States has armed their group in Syria.

“I think we have to understand first how we got here,” he said on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “We have been arming [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] ISIS in Syria.”

ISIS, an al Qaeda offshoot, has been collaborating with the Syrian rebels whom the Obama administration has been arming in their efforts to overthrow Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, Paul explained.

The administration has reportedly assisted the moderate opposition in Syria, but details about the dissemination of those resources are unclear.

“That is the real contradiction to this whole policy,” Paul said. “If we were to get rid of Assad,” it would become a “jihadist wonderland in Syria.”

Asked what he would do as president on Iraq, Paul deflected and did not give a straight answer. Instead, he pointed to the Reagan doctrine, and said Congress must ultimately determine the U.S. plan after engaging in a “full-throated debate.”

“The president doesn’t have unilateral authority to begin war,” said Paul, who couldn’t say whether he would support U.S. airstrikes in Iraq.

He said he’s not ruling U.S. assistance out, but said first Shiites must show they will fight for their country.

Paul downplayed the idea that ISIS is an immediate threat to the U.S., but said it could be “at some point.”

Watergate
IRS as a political weapon
phone tapping
Iran-Contra
etc
etc

Every political scandal of my lifetime has comeback and been re-lived in the past 6 years. One right after the other.

And the media yawns.

I knew we were arming Syrian “rebels” through Turkey.

And .. it was a secret gun running scheme .. but then all the pieces of this story seem to fly all over the place.

Did Benghazi happen because AQ found out we were arming ISIS ..?? Since the general consensus is that AQ did not support ISIS ..??

Wow .. what a tangled web this is.

Treason doth never prosper: what’s the reason? Why if it prosper, none dare call it treason.

Yup. People were going ballistic over ISIS “seizing” Stinger Missiles in Iraq when it was reported in 2012 that Turkey was shipping them to “rebels” in Syria.

Maybe John McCain would like to go back for another photoshoot.

He blamed Bush for the problems earlier.

He seems as bat crap crazy as his father, with zero impulse control with his mouth.

Paul is a member of congress.

We have been needing congress to get to the bottom of the Benghazi scandal for over a year and a half, precisely because, after the diplomats having been abandoned, the suspicions of unilateral action on the part of the administration and any covered up action on the part of corrupt congress members, acting in collusion, not in the best interest of the country, we want stopped, rooted out and sanctioned.

Paul’s position then is not to announce to the universe that the US, meaning the Country, We the People, with the government who works for them, is at the bottom of this, because that is not his position even if it were true

WE actually want him with no excuses to get to the bottom of this and fix it.

He is weird

And he is incorrect. THe US does not want to arm these people.

NO

What I am waiting for is “ In light of this malfeasance in protecting and defending the Constitution, I am today calling on Barack Obama to resign the Presidency.”

Outrage is getting trite and passe’

These are John McCain’s heroes. If we arm Mexican drug cartels why not arm ISIS. At this point what difference does it make?

One minute he’s blaming Bush for the current Iraq flare up, then he says what’s been obvious the whole time.

I really liked him, but this is too much.

Yeah. You can’t have it both ways. Can’t say I told you, there would be civil war, then turn around and say the U.S. is arming the exact group that’s causing the current aggression. That’s just an admission what’s happening right now is the fault of the current administration, if you believe this claim.

No different than Libya. Take down the bad guy by arming even worst guys and when it blows up in our faces, deny deny deny.

#Obamasfault

Then quit defending Obama, Rand....and quit blaming Bush and Cheney.

What a maroon.
