“They were returning to the victim’s house from White Castle,” said Ferndale Police Sgt. Patrick Jones. “Two black males ran up to them and one of them punched the victim on the left side of his face.”
Police say the victim fell to the ground and struck his head on the roadway. Neither of the two men involved in the attack said a word to the Ferndale victim.
Ewing gave an interview to WXYZ-TV news in which he said he suffered a concussion, a broken jaw, chipped teeth, cuts and bruises. The man who was with the victim told police the two men involved in the attack laughed and ran off.

When I see a group of people that I’m willing to profile heading my direction I have my hand on the handle of my piece. I will move to the right or left to give them the benefit of the doubt but if they move in the same direction the SHTF. I also am aware of what’s behind me.

This is at the least, assault and since a couple of people have died or went into a coma after being ATTACKED, it probably should be considered attempted murder.
Correct, this ‘problem’ will screech to a halt when the Coroners Wagon hauls off a few ‘attackers’ and those that get captured get put away for a while.
I don’t care if this particular victim works in a salon or a steel mill (well if in a steel mill, it would probably call for more than 2 of these cowards to attack him)- If a person is walking down the street and two thugs attack him/her, you can go ahead and call it a HATE CRIME. Unless of course you want to call it a LOVE CRIME but I doubt the ‘beat down’ is done as an act of love..

That's what I mean. If he goes to the media, and has GLAAD behind him, and it trends on twitter, gay trumps black. But I am not sure this particular story goes much further than it does now.
But if this happens again and again, who knows. They'll probably find some way to blame the Tea Party.
If Mr. Punching Bag is a liberal, he will probably blame anyone but the thugs that did this to him. He will blame the Tea Party, racism, George Bush, underfunded schools, whatever. Or he will blame himself: “I wonder what I did to offend them?”
This is why a “quick draw” sheath knife can be extra handy. Especially a curved blade like a karambit or skinning knife. Optimally, the handle is in your hand, but the blade is concealed behind your forearm, so from most perspectives you seem to be unarmed.
The potential knockout gamer wants to close with you quickly, punching you in the head. So he is likely within the minimum range for a ccw. But there is no minimum range for a knife.
Your attention needs to be in avoiding the punch, possibly with the other hand as a parry. You are like a boxer, avoiding optimal punching distance as you close into a clench with the attacker. When you break from the clench, you leave him with a 1” diagonal gash across his torso.
Of course, if the opportunity presents itself, you draw and fire your ccw.

Non-Hispanic whites MUST learn how to box. It’s a lost skill in that demographic, and has been so for several decades.
Don’t fall prey to the “coyote theory”.
A big difference between dogs and coyotes is that dogs fight for social reasons, to demonstrate dominance and other reasons. Coyotes only fight to kill. This is why, in a fight between a dog and a coyote, the dog will usually lose, even if it is much larger, and outweighs the coyote.
Though it’s called the knockout game, it is not a game, and the intent is not just to knockout, but far too often to cause mayhem, severely injure, or even kill. And there is no way to tell the intent beforehand. So the assumption must be that the intent is to kill.
Even the law clearly recognizes that violent attack can be defended against with lethal force, even when the attacker and victim know each other. If a stranger attacks, it is a slam dunk legal defense to kill them dead.
Most people think concealed carry guns in this case, but a big part of the knockout game is subterfuge, to sneak up on an intended victim and give them a “cheap shot”. And this is why I advocate knives, in particular curved, short knives like the karambit or skinning knife.
Even brandished, they can be hidden behind the forearm, so as to not cause any alarm if brandishing them was unnecessary. This means they can be drawn first, even while considering whether a threat is real. And there is no confusion about their use, either, because someone slashed or stabbed would have to be in your “space”.
And yet there is a need to parry, a boxer or karateka skill, because they may likely enter your space fist first, attempting to punch you.
Normally I prefer concealed carry, just because I don't want to invite trouble. But these thugs just by their very nature are trouble.
Don’t think of cc in terms of avoiding trouble; instead, think of it as a huge tactical advantage in a trouble situation. However, it’s also vital to understand and account for its limitations, which is where knives enter the picture.
The Tueller Drill is an exercise that determined that an armed police officer, *expecting* a knife attack from a charging attacker, needs a minimum of 21 feet to draw and double tap the attacker.
For a civilian, not expecting trouble, and naturally hesitant to draw and fire his weapon, this distance expands a lot. Nobody has put it to the test, but it could easily be 30 feet or more.
To make things worse, a big part of the knockout game is using stealth and subterfuge to close the distance with an intended victim. So if they enter the civilian Tueller zone, what do you do?
In most cases, it is not an attack, but brandishing a gun could “get you into trouble” by frightening innocent people. But brandishing a knife can be done discreetly, so it can be done early, before you can tell for sure that you need a weapon handy.
As such, a quick draw knife is a very good complement to a cc pistol.
There is an old mafia saying, that makes sense in light of this: “Run from a knife. Charge a gun.”
