Opera Australia have sacked soprano Tamar Iveri following the furore over "unconscionable" homophobic comments singer posted on her Facebook page. ...

The post took the form of a letter to Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili in which she implored him to "stop vigorous attempts to bring West's ‘fecal masses’ in the mentality of the people by means of propaganda".

The singer was responding to a gay pride parade that had been organised to pass through the yard of an Orthodox Church in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi.

On Saturday the singer blamed her husband for the comments ...

It’s meaner spirited.

Are all good operas secular? Are there any sacred operas she could do? She might be more comfortable with that anyhow.

This thread reminds me, I have been wondering if the authoritative history of the social takeover by the pro-sodomy crowd has been written yet; from meekly pleading for understanding and a little tolerance, to an uncompromising arrogant position of total intolerance, violence and hate towards other groups essential to a civilized society.

That the vast majority of normal society no longer sees the perversions as harmless "live and let live" existence is not only understandable, but inevitable.

My neutral attitude of 36 years ago has changed to contempt ridicule and disgust at the pro-sodomy delusion of not being satisfied with simple accomodation.

Like slaves, they seek not freedom, but the hunger for power, and the perverse need to rule over others.

That ain't happening, no matter how many absurd laws they manage to pass. They had best get used to that, and keep their sociopathy to themselves.

I would say her career is badly damaged

I would interpret that as the wishful thinking of an insecure practitioner.

>> “stop vigorous attempts to bring West’s ‘fecal masses’ in the mentality of the people by means of propaganda”.

What exactly is the problem with that statement?

“What exactly is the problem with that statement?”

The problem is, according to a homosexual acquaintance that Opera is overwhelmingly supported by homosexuals. He claims that they make make more than 70% of the audience in many cases. (I have nothing but his word for this)

I can see how an opera company would not want to alienate a large portion of its fan base. It is also another reason to never go to an opera

My point: has anyone ever been “punished” for Christianophobic slurs?

Nope.

In Australia, the "art work" Piss Christ was displayed at public expense. No one was allowed to say a word against it, on penalty of social exclusion and - as we can see - loss of one's job.

Up in Canada they do not even call it gay pride anymore but simply pride. Imagine if a bunch of White nationalists adopted this approach to obscure their goal.

Are you know or have you ever been a member of a conservative party? Do you hold conservative beliefs or do you associate with conservative people?

The left have no sense of irony or they would laugh at themselves pack up and go home!

Alas, I think it is not at all a good thing for a soprano to be dropped by a national Opera.

Free speech is dead in Australia - at least concerning matters like this.

As long as employers can fire us for expressing an opinion outside of work we do not have free speech.

That's why God made them in different shapes and sizes.

It's that old "Eye of the Beholder" thingy.

Opera audiences are made up of people who love singing. The attendees are frequently those who have sung or are currently in choirs or are currently involved in some form of music. They are knowledgable fans.

Ballet audiences are made up of people who have danced or who taken a liking to it . Frequently they are the same crowd as the opera attracts. If you like good legs, attend the ballet they are apparent both in the audience as well as on stage.
