Email Shows IRS Official Was Pretty Happy About Obama Publicly Singling Out Conservative...
Townhall ^ | june 23, 2014 | Katie Pavlich

An email recently released by the House Oversight Committee shows IRS official Sarah Ingram was pretty excited about President Obama publicly speaking out against conservative groups with "secret donors." The email was sent from Ingram to Lois Lerner and others inside the tax agency after a glowing piece was published in the New York Times about the IRS and the trouble it was having with new tax exempt applicants and groups in light of the 2010 Citizen's United ruling.

"The 'secret donor' theme will continue -- see Obama salvo and today's Diane Reeham (sp). At least SS started the idea that we don't have the law to do something," the email reads.

Sarah Ingram led the department before Lois. I think she is more to blame than Lois, as she not only started it, she handpicked Lois Lerner to continue her work.

I’m undecided as to whether federal employees, welfare recipients, and the like should vote. Perhaps in some elections...it is a slippery slope.

Donor Names Remain Secret as Rules Shift
By MICHAEL LUO and STEPHANIE STROM
Published: September 20, 2010

Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies would certainly seem to the casual observer to be a political organization: Karl Rove, a political adviser to President George W. Bush, helped raise money for it; the group is run by a cadre of experienced political hands; it has spent millions of dollars on television commercials attacking Democrats in key Senate races across the country.

Yet the Republican operatives who created the group earlier this year set it up as a 501(c)(4) nonprofit corporation, so its primary purpose, by law, is not supposed to be political.

(snip)

“Federal tax law specifically distinguishes among activities to influence legislation through lobbying, to support or oppose a specific candidate for election and to do general advocacy to influence public opinion on issues,” said Sarah Hall Ingram, commissioner of the I.R.S. division that oversees nonprofits. As a result, rarely do advertisements by 501(c)(4) groups explicitly call for the election or defeat of candidates. Instead, they typically attack their positions on issues.

It seems that she recently retired:

“Ingram certainly was in contact with the Obama White House. She made 165 visits there during the IRS targeting period. The official story is that Ingram visited the White House to discuss “health policy” with Doug Shulman, then commissioner of the IRS, and White House health policy assistant Jeanne Lambrew. Ingram was head of the IRS tax-exempt office at the time. She moved on from there to coordinate IRS prosecution of Obamacare, and has since retired.”

The New York Times article referred to in the email is linked below. The "SS" in the email is Stephanie Strom, a co-writer of the Times article. Also mentioned in the email is "Marcus" who is referred to in the article:

The I.R.S. division with oversight of tax-exempt organizations “is understaffed, underfunded and operating under a tax system designed to collect taxes, not as a regulatory mechanism,” said Marcus S. Owens, a lawyer who once led that unit and now works for Caplin & Drysdale, a law firm popular with liberals seeking to set up nonprofit groups.

Donor Names Remain Secret as Rules Shift

The email clearly shows the IRS had a real cozy relationship with the leftist media and liberal political activists.

What to do now? I'm not sure but I think a repeal of the 16th amendment would be the ultimate goal.

BTW This sort of thing was predicted when Wm J Bryan was pushing the 16th through

“A hand from Washington will be stretched out and placed upon every man's business; the eye of the Federal inspector will be in every man's counting house . . . The law will of necessity have inquisitorial features, it will provide penalties, it will create complicated machinery. Under it men will be hailed into courts distant from their homes. Heavy fines imposed by distant and unfamiliar tribunals will constantly menace the tax payer. An army of Federal inspectors, spies and detectives will descend upon the state . . . Who of us who have had knowledge of the doings of the Federal officials in the Internal Revenue service can be blind to what will follow?”

Virginia House Speaker Richard E. Byrd, 1910, predicting what would happen if a federal income tax became law.

A second high-ranking Internal Revenue Service (IRS) official is stepping down amid the controversy over targeting Tea Party groups.

Joseph Grant, the acting commissioner for the agency’s Tax Exempt and Government Entities division, plans to retire, according to the IRS.
An internal IRS announcement said that Grant would retire from the agency on June 3. The announcement comes one day after President Obama asked for and received the resignation of Steven Miller, the IRS’s acting commissioner, who will also leave in early June.

Grant, Kay Named to IRS Leadership Posts
IR-2013-47, May 8, 2013

WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today announced the selection of Joseph H. Grant as commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division and Sheldon Kay as Chief of Appeals.

“Joseph and Shelly are strong leaders who will provide strong leadership and continuity in these critical parts of the IRS,” said Steven T. Miller, Acting IRS Commissioner.
Grant has served as the TE/GE Deputy Director since 2007. As TE/GE Commissioner, Grant will oversee the administration of tax law relating to employee plans, tax-exempt organizations and various government entities. TE/GE serves approximately 3 million organizations.

Grant originally joined the IRS in August 2005 as director of the Employee Plans Rulings & Agreements division. Before that, he was Chief Operating Officer and a Deputy Executive Director of the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). Grant also served on the staff of the Oversight and Social Security subcommittees of the House Ways and Means Committee.

http://americanpolitics411.com/article/irs-tax-exemptionobamacare-exec-got-103390-in-bonuses-did-obama-ok-them/

UPDATED: IRS tax exemption/Obamacare exec got $103,390 in bonuses; Did Obama OK them?

Sarah Hall Ingram, the IRS executive in charge of the tax exempt division in 2010 when it began targeting conservative Tea Party, evangelical and pro-Israel groups for harassment, got more than $100,000 in bonuses between 2009 and 2012.

More recently, Ingram was promoted to serve as director of the tax agency’s Obamacare program office, a position that put her in charge of the vast expansion of the IRS’ regulatory power and staffing in connection with federal health care, ABC reported earlier today.

Ingram received a $7,000 bonus in 2009, according to data obtained by The Washington Examiner from the IRS, then a $34,440 bonus in 2010, $35,400 in 2011 and $26,550 last year, for a total of $103,390. Her annual salary went from $172,500 to $177,000 during the same period.

Bad decade of the 16-19 Amendments. Oh, and a world war.

America lost her head. The 17th Amendment alone pulled the keystone from the Framers' careful design.

It ended free government. The result is a federal constitution without a federal government, for the constitution acts on states which no longer had representation in congress.
